I had one baby at Beaumont Royal Oak and one at Huron Valley. Both were positive experiences. If I had to choose a hospital to give birth at again, I would pick Huron Valley by a landslide. HV was much more personalized experience. They seemed more attentive and I had a c-section. Having my surgery down the hall from my room, as opposed to at Beaumont, where the operating room is on another floor, afforded me the ability to prep and recover in my room and bond with my baby. At Beaumont, I was prepped and recovered in a triage area, and they took my baby and put him in the nursery. I didn't get to hold him for four hours, until I was setteled in my room.
Also, if you decide you want to stay at St. Joe's, you could have the Essure proceedure for permanent birth control, which is done in the doctors office. It is a non-surgical, minimally invasive approach that has a much shorter recovery time than tubal ligation.
