Looking for ADD Doctor

Does anyone have any recommendations of a doctor who is familiar with treating ADD? My 9-year-old has ADD without hyperactivity and his regular pediatrician has not been able to help. Preferably in Northwest Valley.

What can I do next?

I highly recommend reading "Healing ADD" by Daniel G. Amen, M.D. His website is amenclinics.com. Also, nativeremedies.com has homeopathic supplements for ADHD.

Dr. Paul Beljin is AWESOME. He also has a Learning Enrichment Center that has a new way of helping with ADD and ADHD. You really should check it out. I am sorry I don't have his phone number handy. He is a nuero-psychologist though. Check out his learning center. www.learningenrichmentcenter.com

I also went through Value Options (which is now Magellan) and they referred me to a place I am just okay with. My son does not take medicine and we are working on more natural/behavioral solutions.

If you are looking for someone to prescribe meds you'll need to go to a psychiatrist.

I have two children with ADHD. I contacted my health insurance and they gave me a list of Psychiatrists that they accept. I just picked the closest one to me off that list. If you have insurance you might want to contact them first. Our Dr. is near the Metrocenter Mall. I don't know if they are close enough for you but I could give you the phone number if it is.

I would suggest that you look in to the DORE program. I have a daughter that just completed the program for Dyslexia, but it is also for ADD and ADHD children as well. I believe that you can use it as long as the child is at least 7 years old. It is something that you really need to be commited to since it takes about 18 months to complete (we were an exception at 2 years), but it did help my daughter with her reading...that was her main issue, she did not have the behavior problems, but it helps for that too. Look at their website, www.doreusa.com for more info. It is an exercize program (two exercizes, twice daily that take approx 10 minutes)that stimulates the cerebellum to function better. It was developed in the UK and is a totally drug free solution, and also a permanent solution. They have a center in Phoenix, 24th St. and Indian School, close the the 51) and you only visit the center every 6 -8 weeks for testing. There was a report on TV last year of a girl in Glendale with ADHD that had completed it, they may have a copy of the show for you to see or maybe even archived on the website, not sure, but I wish I had known to do it sooner for my daughter.

Do some reading on food allergies, especially wheat, dairy and corn, chemical additives, sugar, soda and TV/video games. these all change the chemical balance of the brain and nervous systems and break concentration. I have also found a product that many children benefit from, SeaBiotics, neurofactor for children and electrolytes. It feeds the nerve system essential oils and minerals. Be happy to talk with you about it, good for the famiy. He may also need a good chiropractor for cranial adjustments. K..

Hi. Happened to see your request. I am a practioner of an alternative health care modality called BodyTalk. We get great results with ADD. I would suggest looking at the website www.bodytalksystems.com to read more. There are many practioner's in the valley to choose from. There is a one day class to give you some basic tools on how to work on yourself and family, as to empower you and not depend soley on the doctors. The next Access class is in April. I am able to do affordable sessions out of my home (at I 17 and Happy Valley)for $25. Even if you don't contact me, I hope you look and find an alternative solution. M. ____@____.com

I found a natural product that has helped many children with ADD including my own. It's called GoChi. When you put children on meds it can hurt them more than help them. Check it out. My web site is www.bethhaines.freelife.com
