Hi,

I am looking to join or start a playgroup in NE Portland. I live in the Concordia neighborhood near Kennedy School, Wilshire Park, Grant Park, Alberta/Alemeda/Beaumont. I am looking for some playgroups to attend during to week with my son Donovan (he'll be 3 in November). Our family recently moved here from Chicago (originally from Michigan) and now that we are settled, I'd love to meet some other parents in the area.

If you know of a good playgroup close-in NE Portland or want to meet up, drop me an email.

M.,

I live in the same neighborhood. I had my daughter in a playgroup awhile back, but it kind of fizzled out. I have a 3 year old daughter and a 17 month old daughter. I dont work on Thrus or Fridays, and we could meet up sometime if you like. I live off Jessup and 38th very close to Fernhill Park. Let me know. Take Care. A.

Welcome to Portland, we moved here about 10 years ago from So CAl. Moves are never easy, but Portland has its perks:)

I lived in Portland in the same area you are in until last year. Every Wednesday at Emanual Hospital there is a class for baby/toddlers that is called BAM (Baby and Me), I know there is one for older children too, but my daughter was very young when we left. If you contact the BAM group they will help you find other parents in the area. The parents from the groups network outside of the class too. I have a lot of good friends still just from this class. The director of the class is Bonnie Hutchens so if you call Emanuel then see if she has voice mail or her email is ____@____.com. I hope this helps you and Donovan out.

Good Luck

There is a great play park in the basement of a church located at N. Greeley & Rosa Parks Way (It is on the NW corner next to the gast station, and I think it is call Northminster Presbyterian). It is 5o cents per kid, and there are snacks, plus coffee for parents. It is low key and has a few ride on toys, a play stucture, and smaller toys too. It is not religious. Last year, they were open on Tu, Th, and Fr mornings. I have a nearly 5 year old and a 18 month old, so perhaps we will see you there. All the community centers also have play parks.

Hi M.,

I am part of a playgroup on meetup.com called NE Moms and Friends. It is a very active group with most of the kids being between 1 1/2 to 2 1/2. The group is closed to new members through meetup but you can be added once you've come out to a playdate and decided its a fit for you. I live in the same area as you as well as many other of the members. Email me if you are interested in finding out about upcoming meetups.

I live in that area, don't have a playgroup, just friends that we have regular playtimes with on an individual basis...mostly girls. We take allot of classes at the local community centers, mainly Peninsula Park which is on Rosa Parks near I-5. I highly recommend looking at what they have to offer. It is well maintained, and on a big park w/multiple playstructures, a water feature, baseball fields, rose garden and outdoor swimming pool. They have all sorts of classes ranging from soccer to ballet to music and everything in between. My daughter is almost 4, so don't know how good a fit it would be, although she does play really well with my friends almost 3 year old son. Would be happy to meet at a park and at least talk about what there is to do around Portland w/kids. FYI my husband is from Michigan, we have lot's of family still there. Portland is a great place to live, and close to the Gorge, the mountains and the beach. Welcome to your new home! Let me know if you want to get together. My daughter is in preschool M and Wed, and w/her grandparents most Friday mornings.
