Hello,
I'm looking to switch to a new OBGYN in the Brighton/Brookline area. I am currently at a practice where their policy is to see the doctor on one visit and a registered midwife at the next appointment. I feel like neither of them really get to know you and follow your case well enough. I used them for my last pregnancy since I was new here and didn't know where else to go. But now I'm expecting again and want a new doctor that will see me each time and give me the care I need/want!
So my question is...does anyone have a good doctor or practice to recommend? I am looking for a FEMALE doctor and preferably an all FEMALE practice.
Thank you!

I also use Dr. Diane Kaufman in Chestnut Hill. She has delivered both of my kids and since then I have been seeing her for my annual visit. I have recommended her to friends multiple times. She is wonderful and I like her staff also.
Good luck.

Hi A.

I have the BEST OB/GYN!!!!!!! She is at St. Elizabeths Hospital in the Medical Office Building. You can see her profile by going to St. Elizabeths website. Her name is Dr. Karen Poley. I can't say enough good things about her. She lives locally (Newton) and has 3 young children of her. She just delivered my twins 8 1/2 weeks ago. The office staff is super nice as well. Please consider her!

I can also recommend New England OBGYN on Pearl street in Brookline. I know several people who have used them including myself and I drive all the way from Norton to see them. I use Dr. Lampert and have also seen Dr. Vincent several times. LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!! I have a friend who uses Dr. Vincent loves her and a Friend who uses Dr. Gonsalves and loves her. I think they have about 7 female Doctors in the practice now and I have had good experiences with them although some have different styles I wouldn't have any reservations with any doctor in the practice. I have always seen my doctor or another doctor for all appointments even my annual exam. During both my preganancies I was able to get appointments no problem its just your annual exam that you have to make a few months ahead since they are so busy. You deliver at Brigham and Women they are GREAT! and for birthing classes they recommend ISIS maternity which is right next to their office but also has other locations including needham. When you are having a baby you rotate through all of the doctors before you deliver just in case your doctor is not on call when you deliver. I had Doctor Bunnell and Doctor Vincent on during my first delivery and Doctor Lampert for my second I had complications with both deliveries and the doctors and staff and the Brigham were EXCELLENT and both my boys are healthy and happy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRACTICE!

When I had my son 4 years ago, I saw Dr. Mimi Yum. She came highly recommended, was in a mostly women practice and delivered out of BI. She was amazingly professional and compassionate all at the same time. She has excellent listening skills. Since then, I understand she has had her own child, which I imagine makes her even better. Best of luck to you!

Try New England OBGyn at One Brookline Place. I have had two children delivered by two different female doctors and they were both wonderful! I never had to see a male doctor - when I got to him in the rotation, I just opted out. My OBGyn for routine issues is Dr. Mari-Kim Bunnell - I have seen her for years and think she is tremendous!

Hi,

I read your responses and I too, also use Dr. William Callhan. I swore I would never go to a male either, then I found him and he helped solve my problems I was 21 years old. I am now 36, he is so wonderful and kind. He delivered my 2 kids, one less than a year ago. I had complications and he was so awesome and knew just what to do. I recommened him to everybody. I drive about an hour to see him. When we moved my husband couldn't figure out why I went to far. But since the kids and having met him and his bedside manners, he understands why I go that far.

I know you said you were looking for a female Dr/practice, but I couldn't help but let you know about my WONDERFUL male ob/gyn. Dr. William Callahan at Saint Elizabeth's is just great. I have been seeing him for more than 10 years. When I was in my 20's looking for an OB/gyn I was dead set against going to a male Dr. I went to 5 different females before finding Dr. C. He's been the most comforting, compassionate and kind ob/gyn I've encountered. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful Dr. The others in the practice are also wonderful. Every appointment I had during all three of my pregnancies I had with him. He pulls a nurse in for all exams and is very professional and never once has made me feel uncomfortable before, during or after an exam. There are female Dr.s in the practice, I just don't know them well but my brief encounters have been positive experiences. The practice is Caritas Ob/Gyn @ St. Elizabeth's Medical Office building next to the hospital. Good luck!

A.,

I go to a doctor in Brookline. It is a practice of 3 women and 1 man. The way the office works is you see the nurse for the first appt at 9 weeks then your doctor at 12 weeks and every month after that til I think it's the 28 week appt when you see the nurse again, then you see the doctor til the end.
They are located at 1 Brookline Ave - on the corner of Brookline and Rt 9 and deliver at Brigham and Women's. I see Dr. Ackerman. I can't say enough good things about her. There number is ###-###-####

Good luck and congratulation,

Hi,
I had to find a new OBGYN when I moved here and I was so sad to part with my much loved previous one who delivered my first baby. But, now I love my new one here. Her name is Carolyn Cline - she is in Brookline - ###-###-####. She is a wonderful doctor, very smart, very calming. She delivered my second girl. She is affiliated with Brigham and Women which is one of the reasons I chose her because I wanted to be in one of the best Boston Hospitals. She always makes me feel very at ease, which is great, since I can be a worry wort. Her practice has a great reputation and there are only a couple of other OBGYNs there so it is personal and not a baby factory at all. I highly recommend her. Good luck.

I see someone saw Dr. Bunnell and I see Dr. Kolbas in the same practice. They do have you see the nurse and she ask you if you have any special concerns and requests in a doctor and she then picks one out of the practice. You do see all the doctors in the practice just in case your doctor is out for a reason but Dr. Kolbas was very helpful and made sure she was there for my birth. i explained my working situation and she also knew of my concerns and had me come in on a Saturday and you wouldn't believe that my water had broken and was dripping out slowly so good thing she had me come in that day. I appreciated all the doctors and if you need more time they give it to you.
