Looking for a Good Vitamin for My Toddler

Since we arrived to a new country, our once healthy baby has become sick with viruses about every 4 to 6 weeks...I am beside myself. I know they say that it takes time to get adjusted to the new germs, etc but I just feel so bad for her. She's almost 2 now. At this point, I'm wondering about giving her a really good multivitamin to fill in the gaps of what she's missing in her diet, in the hopes of strengthening her immune system. As a side, my husband has been sick a lot, too, so if you know of any good men's vitamins, I could use those tips, as well! Can anyone recommend anything other than Polyvisol for our little one...?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

We take the CVS brand gummy vitamins. I take them, my 5 and 7 year old take them, and my 17 month old takes them. This is the ONLY vitamin that doesn't make my 5 year old puke!!

I give my son Animal Parade. Its liquid, all natural, and my son loves it! You can get it at the health food store.

My little ones take the Flintstones chewable multi vites...they seem to fine. But then again, we haven't been exposed to anything "new".

They used to have infant "drops" to put in your child's juice. I can't find them online. The one place I did find them said they're "discontinued."

But METAGENICS makes a very good brand of vitamin. Read up about them. My MIL could tell you all about how they're 'pure' vitamins and not chemicals like other vitamins are.

My 3 yr old takes "Multigenics Chewable" http://www.luckyvitamin.com/p-8909-metagenics-multigenics... every day.

Then on the days we know he'll be around a lot of kids/germs (church, the grocery store, etc) we will give him "Ultra Potent-C Chewable" http://www.luckyvitamin.com/p-10360-metagenics-ultra-pote...

Hi Mom to 1little1---I have the honor of working with several health care professionals who use nutrition as the foundation of their practices. What I have learned is that isolated supplemental vitamins do not offer the support that we had once hoped. We should be able to get all of our nutrients from the food that we eat. As that may have been true at one time, in today's world, it is a different story. Food has been modified so that it grows faster in order to get more seasons out of the field. That means fewer nutrients are absorbed from the already depleted soil. Produce is picked BEFORE ripe so that it is not able to absorb all of the nutrients it might if left on the vine to ripen. Once it is picked, enzymes start to prepare the produce for digestion. Food is shipped across the country from Florida, Arizona and California. Again, the available nutrients degrade even more. It sits in the store for days. I do believe we need help, as we are exposed to more and more challenges to our health every day.

Your best bet is to supplement with a product made from fruits and veggies. I work with a company that juices 17 different fruits, veggies and grains. The juice is dehydrated and the powders are put into capsules and into tasty soft chewable gummies. It has a food label...nutrition facts, not supplement facts. It is backed by numerous independent research studies that show first, that it is absorbed and gets into the bloodstream, it reduces free radical damage and oxidative stress (disease causing conditions), it strengthens and balances the immune system, helps the body to protect and repair DNA (anti-cancer/aging) and shows improvement in cardiovascular wellness.

Let me know if I can tell you more about this wonderful whole food based supplement. It works. BTW...where in Chicago do you live? There is a great health lecture at the Tinley Park Convention Center on Harlem Ave tonight. Send me a pm and I will give you the details. I hope that I can be of additional help. Remember, there are tons of products out there, none regulated and VERY few studied for effectiveness. The research on this product is unprecendented and we are NSF certified, meaning that olympic and pro athletes can consume this without fear of it being contaminated. In fact, the German, Swiss and Austrian 2012 Summer Olympic teams are using this for their only training supplement. So that would be my advice...be sure to request, look at and study research that a company has had done on it's product. Good luck. D.

I would talk to your pediatrician only! I have seen several Drs. that do not recommend vitamins for children that young. My Dr says that even picky eaters typically do not need vitamins that young. My kids are 5 and the doctor still is saying no to vitamins. 2 was a tough age for us sickness wise and it was just because they were mobile and into everything wherever we went. It is just a transition and she should build up immunities to things as she grows and is exposed to more. Good luck!

Hi there.
I have my kids on this line. I have 2 of them on the OPC3 because it was the only thing that killed their warts. :)
OPC3 is an antioxidant which fights free radicals and frees your immune system up to fight sickness and disease. it's amazing. That will keep her healthy. I have the other one on a multi. This vitamin line is a powder that when mixed with water becomes an isotonic state which just means it's absorbed into the blood stream immediately. You get more of your vitamin than if you were to take a pill.
Another thing you could try is Ultimate Aloe juice. This is another product that will boost her immune system and keep her healthy. All my boys are on that as well as me. They were on zantac for reflux and are all off their meds because of this juice. The strawberry kiwi tastes like a freeze pop so kids love it. I put mine in water in the summer to give it a little flavor. Very yummy.
I work very closely with a pediatrician that reccommends this line to his patients. Here's a link where you can look it up. The OPC3 comes in an adult version too so make sure you get the kids.
:)
Hope that helps.
