Looking for a Gift for My Parents' Anniversary...

In September, my parents are going to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary, so I was wanting to get them something special. I was thinking about getting them a plate with my children's hand/ feet prints on them. I have seen these in magazines, but I don't know where to go to get one. Has anyone else done this? Did you like it or not worth the money? Looking for any feedback! Thanks!!!!

What can I do next?

I have used little impressions. Yesenia is in a kiosk at Stonebriar. She is great!!!! I cant say enough good things. She makes impressions in the clay. She will also work with you and come to you if you need it. She has plates, ornaments ,etc. I think I saw one sample with the family.

Color Me Mine in Flower Mound (Parker Square on FM 1171/Main St) does this type of thing.

My son's preschool has offered opportunities for things from Color Me Mine throughout the year. Everything I've seen looks good.

A beautiful picture of your two kids or your family is always a great gift. Check out my website at www.natalieannphotography.com. I know for a fact I am more affordable than those plates. My sister did them for all of us last Christmas and it cost her a small fortune.

Thanks and good luck!

I have a friend who is a Heavenly Toes consultant. I don't know if you have ever seen their products, but they can do really cute stuff with kids' handprints, footprints, etc. Here is a link to some samples of her work. Her name is Christy Johnston and her email is ____@____.com this helps... Good luck!

Different idea, but for my parents 25th anniversary we put an announcement in the paper and it was a total surprise.... we used their wedding photo and wrote a little message. My mom had it framed!

I saw a retail booth at the Stonebriar Mall in Frisco a few weeks ago that does this. They had several different options of how to display the hand or foot print. It was really neat.

I did something similar for my parents through Potter's Prints. It is VERY similary to Heavenly Toes. I can't find thier information but it was great. They came to my house and did the prints and I invited a few of my girlfriends over too with their babies. They paint the hands and feet into something or will just paint trim around them. I had a picture frame made for my husband that had one foot in blue and one foot in tan and they made it into a golf course theme with a water hazard and sand trap. They were very cute and we always get compliments on them.

If it's close enough to you, check out Quiggley's Clayhouse in Richardson: www.quigglys.com The owners of the shop can help you place your children's feet or hands on any clay item (plate, plaque, platter, etc.), you paint it there in the shop with their supplies and they'll place it in the kiln for you. There may be other clay houses in the area, this is the one I went to a while back.

You could make a book with pictures throughout their relationship. You could ask them questions (withouth them knowing what you're doing) about how they met and write up stories to include. I just started making these books and they are a huge hit. Go to www.staceykerr.com and it will take you to the website-Heritage Makers. Best of all, they are so easy to make and great quality.

A plate is a great idea, too. No doubt they would love anything that has your children's hand or foot prints on them. I use Timla Healy with Painted Piggies. You can go to her website at www.paintedpiggies.com. She does a fabulous job.

Another note - if you do a picture with Natalie Ann - she is great and very affordable. When I was a kid, we surprised my parents with a picture of my brother, sister and me. My parents were so surprised and absolutely loved it.
