The Royal Oak Farmer's Market is wonderful...especially when the season gets into full swing!
This weekend is Flower Day at the Eastern Market in Detroit. It is jam packed with people and tons of good deals!
I moved here last Fall from Washington State. In WA I took my kids to a farmers market every week to eat lunch, enjoy children's activites and pick up great produce. Can anyone recommend local Farmer's Markets that have a similar vibe in the Utica/Rochester Hills area?

Hi A.,
I found this list of Farmer's Markets in the Edible Wow Magazine www.ediblewow.com. I have just moved to Oxford and have not been to any yet myself, but here is a list that may be helpful. If you find a city that you are interested in, I am sure you can google for more info:

I hope this has helped :) I am looking forward to going to a few of these on the weekend with the family and to help support local farmers. I would have to say one of the best is Detroit's Eastern Market if you know where your going to get there and feel comfortable driving into Detroit. If not find someone to go with, it's an awesome experiance and they have great little stores around the market (which the market is HUGE!!) and sometimes BBQ Fundraisers and the food is extremley tasty :)
Have fun! and Welcome to MI!

Rochester has a very trendy Farmers Market right down town. It is small but nice. I find it a bit pricey. If you don't mind driving a bit, there is an Oakland Country Farmers Market in Waterford which is great. Also there is one in Mt. Clemens which is equally good. I'm not sure which would be closer to you. I'm going to hit the Oakland County one in a few weeks.
Hi A., Welcome to Michigan. You certainly received an
Michigan Winter Wonderland reception to our beautiful state
these past winter months. I know of a great Farmers Market in Royal Oak, Mich. which is about 30 minutes west on 696. Get off at Woodward Ave and go right. I have never been there, but my girl friend who lives in that city sure loves it.
Have you heard of Greenfield Village. It's in Dearborn, Mich. Visitors go back in history to visit homes of
America's great inventors like Henry Ford and Thomas Alva Edison. A great way for the family to send an enjoyabe day.
Growing up in Dearborn, I have enjoyed this place thousands
of times and still desire to go back. Check out "The Henry
Ford.com on your search engine.
Also as one of my services as a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant,
I love to welcome new gals to the area with a complementary
facial. I would love to pamper a busy mom, plus fill you
in on other attractions in the local area. Hope you are enjoying you new home and getting use to your new surroundings. I know from experience it takes awhile.
Your welcomed to call me to set up a time for your facial.
There is no obligation to purchase anything just a time to relax and meet a new friend. Enjoy! K. Henderson
###-###-####. P.S. If you call me I can tell you the exact directions to the Farmers Market. Sorry, it slips my mind right now. Hope this helps.
I highly reccomend the market in Royal Oak. They have many farmers that sell organic produce. There is also a variety of other stuff--handmade soaps, flowers and plants, chicken, beef, eggs, cheese. It may not be everything you are looking for in terms of your children, but it does have a great vibe, friendly people, and live music. I take my daughter just about every Saturday, most of the year.
They are starting to get crowded so parking takes a little while but it is worth it. I think they open at 6:30 and close by 1:30/2:00. Some things sell out early though. This week I am going early to try to get some asparagus.
On Sunday the market is a flea market and my husband has been taking my daughter to that since she was 6 mos. old!
Best to you and yours.
PS: there is also the very large Eastern Market in Detroit which is worth a visit every once in a while. Not as many small farmers though there are bargains.
Rochester Hills has a nice Farmer's Market on Saturdays. It is located downtown by Rochester Mills Brewery. They have all kinds of local produce, and at different times, they have entertainment and special events for kids.
Have fun!
Good morning and welcome to Michigan!!
We love the Armada Flea/Farmer's Market!! It's an open air market, so pick a nice day to visit it. We take our kids and they have a blast! It sits on a couple of acres outside and has rows and rows of vendors!! On Sundays it also has a little two man band that plays folk music next to a covered patio where they serve donuts, hotdogs, chili, etc. We take the wagon and plan on spending a few hours there!
Alongside the farmers they have many antique dealers (mixed in with alot of junk dealers) and we have great fun digging through all of the treasures! They also sell lots of flowers, plants, homebaked goods too!
It's not quite in your area, but it's not in mine either! It is located just a mile outside of Aramada. We take North River Road and go East once you hit town. Just google it, you won't be sorry! I'm pretty sure they are open every Tuesday and Sunday (Sunday's being the better / busier day to go)!!
Good luck!
Have fun!!!

Hi A.!
Welcome to Michigan, hope you are enjoying it here.
If you feel like taking a nice ride....there is one in Birmingham on Sundays in the summer it is small but nice. They have someone new each week who plays music, there is a craft area for the kids, and you can get hot dogs, pancakes, omelets made to order, bread, etc...
Hope this helps, good luck!
T.
