I'm looking for term life insurance, most likely 20 yr. I am part time and do not have it through work. Where have you found the best rates? What should I be looking for? Thanks in advance

What can I do next?

Find a local insurance broker in your area that specializes in life insurance (State Farm is mostly home/auto). They can get you quotes from many different companies. If you are going to do 20yr, I suggest paying for the extra 10 years and get a 30 yr term. In the long run, it is the best move because you don't know what your health will be and even if you are in good health, it will be WAY more expensive the older you get. Good luck.

You might want to check with an insurance broker that represents many different lines. That way you can get a comparison on the coverage and cost of the different plans available.

Call whomever you have your homeowners insurance with.

Typically whole life is not a good idea.

I'm not a fan of life insurance. We have everything planned through our investments. You can have diversified investments which can include annuities which are similar to life insurance but you are guaranteed on your investment.

Life insurance is a gamble and a waste of money in my opinion. I know I'm not with the majority on my opinion.

If you are determined to get it. Stay away from whole life. It's a sham.

My suggestion is to have good coverage for disability and/or catastrophic illness insurance.

If you are still looking, go with a broker you trust who can find the best fit for you. My ex step dad was a life insurance salesman and that business was full of crooks preying on people. They made the most commissions on whole life policies, fwiw.

Dave Ramsey recommends Zander Insurance.

Go to his website for the link to Zander, and from there, you can compare policies from various highly rated companies.
