J.K.
He thew up Monday at 10am then had a hard time sleeping? I'd leave him home on Tuesday and if he remains okay, send him back to school on Wednesday.
So my kindergartener threw up yesterday morning at school, just after 10am. School starts at 7:40am. He didn't throw up after that at all. He's home today w/daddy who is working from home currently. Son fell asleep on the couch with daddy last night (so cute) before his bed time and though he woke up a few times during the night, was still asleep when I left.
Daddy didn't get much done yesterday - which as we moms know is how it goes with kids unless you can work in tandem some way.
Son would have to be at school by 9:35 to be considered not absent. We have only 1 car and it's just above freezing temp wise, with about a mile walk if they are even awake yet (daddy's on a swing shift sleep cycle).
Would you try to send your kiddo in? Even if it was considered absent when he got there? Or would you keep him home for the extra time to rest and let daddy strategize so he can get some work done?
Thanks!
Thanks, Moms - he stayed home and relaxed w/dad. Dad got some work done (not much - welcome to my world ;) It worked out well and little guy got some good rest in.

keep him home for the day to get a little extra rest and send him tomorrow
I always keep my son home for an extra day. Now, I didn't always do that and more times than not would send him back to school and he'd end up taking even longer to get 100% well.....
I would keep him home. It isn't like he is in high school and needs to be present before a chemistry test. It is kindergarten and I think missing one day would be fine. :o)
I think I'd keep my child home for the extra day of rest. We all have times when we have to shift our work around for our child. I don't know how it is where you are, but we have had so many kids sick up here-- norovirus, mono, flu, etc.-- that having an extra day to eat, rest a bit more and feel better would likely be better. Then, they're a little more able to fight off any other bugs.
One of Kiddo's classmates has had both mono and norovirus in the past few months. We hardly ever see him at school, poor kid.
Let him rest his body needs the rest he fell asleep before bedtime with his dad on the couch.Hubs is just going to have to take care of him & try to get work done.
I'd keep him home to rest.
No, keep him home, he's only in kinder and he was sick yesterday.
I'd keep him home. Plano ISD has the 24 hour rule and according to that rule, he may not be allowed to be back to school yet.
Our school has a 24 hour rule. The earliest we could bring our kiddo in would be 10a.m. So send him or keep him, he is considered absent. It's kindergarten, he isn't going to miss anything vital. If my kiddo was sleeping that much I would assume he needed the time to recoup. Daddy will be able to figure something out.
I know it is too late for answering... you've already made the decision... but I would let him stay home. He's only in kindergarten. Having an absence isn't going to matter (unless he already has racked up a huge number of them) for attendance purposes. And being there (even without being counted present) isn't going to benefit him that much.
Now, if he were older, I might say take him late. Even if he wouldn't be counted present. Because he would still be learning while he was there, and not missing things that he'd have to figure out on his own later because he missed the class lesson on xyz in Science or math, (or as a much older student) Biology or World History or computer science.. or whatever. Even when you aren't 100%, at those levels, it is beneficial to be present for the lecture or lesson given by the teacher during class time.
But in kindergarten?? Oh no. Keep him home. There is NOTHING that he cannot make up or learn when he gets back.
I'd keep him home for rest. If he was less than 100% last evening and night, his body could use a day to recharge. If he had just thrown up once yesterday at 10am and then was totally his normal self the rest of the day, I would have sent him in.
They say 24 hours at our school. But since he did it at school they might not even let him come in today.
no.. stomach flu is contagious. keep him home in case this is a stomach bug.
