Hi mammas!

I bought my daughter the cutest bright yellow dress (it's cotton). I washed it with other colors and something dark in the wash made it a dingy yellow color. I'm so bummed!

Is there anyone to wash the dingy out of this dress and get it bright again?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Fels Naptha Laundry Bar. About $1 at Walmart.

Get the dress all wet, scrub it with the bar until there is lots of soap in it, and let it sit with the soap on it.

Don't bother rinsing it. Fels Naptha doesn't get sudsy.

Then wash like normal.

It's also a miracle worker for stains. And much cheaper than Shout.

Don't put it in the dryer or you'll bake in the dye. I had the same thing have to my daughter's yellow sweater. I rewashed it by itself and used just a little bit of bleach and that worked. I hope that helps. :)

There are those color catcher sheets. Wash it alone with that and perhaps it will be saved.

I have some clothes that if you do something like that it goes right back to normal the next wash, other clothes that are ruined forever.

You could try Carbona Color Run Remover. I have never tried it but bought a box after I had a dye transfer problem in the past and could not find a solution. Now I'm just waiting for the next time.

This is why we are taught to sort out colors before washing. I have made mistakes too. I think using some Oxyclean or some other additive that is supposed to brighten the laundry might work but it's probably just going to be this color now.

Lesson learned, only wash bright colors with very similar colors, in this case beige's, Khaki's, other cool yellows, whites, etc...nothing pink, red, brown, any color that has a know factor for fading or bleeding.

If it doesn't come out w/the suggestions given to you by the other mamas,
try re-dying it w/RIT dye in the same color yellow.

Hope you get the stain out.

Edit: also, don't dry it until you are sure the stain has come out.
Drying it will set it.
