Hi Moms,

Has anyone had LASIK done? How did it go? Any regrets? Where did you go? How much? I'm thinking about doing it...

Thanks for any advice!

What can I do next?

Best thing I ever did (aside from having my son)!
I went to Wheaton Eye Clinic, Dr. Brazis, but all the doctors are great there. I think it was approx 4K several years ago, so I dont know what it is now, but these are your eyes and they are the best!

I had LAsik done about 8 years ago. It is one of the best things I have ever done. Mine was done in Laguna Beach , CA at a place that does many professional athletes. It cost about $3500 back then ,but now it is less expensive. (plus they charged more due to location:) With my second child it was awesome getting up in the middle of the night and being able to feed her without putting on glasses or contacts. I highly recommend it. Does not hurt at all either.

Hi Becky,

I am an optometrist in the area and I refer a lot of patients for LASIK. I myself had LASIK done 8 years ago with Dr. Parag Majmudar at Chicago Cornea Consultants. He is great. Wonderful to answer any questions and meticulous. Dr. Probst at TLC is great too. All of my patients have had great success with both Surgeons. A few things you should know. There are different types of LASIK. The price will depend on what technology is used.

One Caution I would warn you about are centers that are trying to get you in the door with discount prices. Many times these prices are for lesser technology and only if your prescription falls withing certain parameters.

The price will be between $3000 and $4500 for both eyes depending on the technology. (laser flap vs blade flap and regular versus Custom Laser treatment) I would go for the highest technology that you are eligible to do. Some patients cannot have certain technology because of too thin corneas.

Go with the best most qualified surgeon who has perfomed the most surgeries. You CANNOT go wrong with Dr. Majmudar or Dr. Probst. Like I said...I had him do mine!

On a personal note....the best thing I ever did for myself. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

About three years ago, both my husband and I went to the TLC center in Westchester (though they have a center in Schaumburg, I think). There's only one surgeon who does the procedures there, but I don't remember his name. The entire staff was very nice and caring; I would recommend that center without reservation. I had the PRK (cornea was too thin for the LASIK), and my husband had the LASIK. We are both thrilled with the results! Good luck!

I had PRK done as I did not qualify for LASIK. This was 8 years ago. I went to Coleman Kraff at the Kraff Eye Insitute downtown and I highly recommend them.
