I'm considering getting Lasik eye surgery done and was wondering if any of you have had it done...
where you pleased with the results...
who was your surgeon...
any establishment you had a bad experience with that I should avoid.

Thank you all in advance :)

I had it done in 2001 and it was almost the best thing I had ever done for myself. I have been glasses/contacts-free since. I was able to drive myself to my follow up appointment the next day! Shop around. Two different places might offer the same services for vastly different fees. Ask lots of questions like what kinds of complications have you seen, what percentage of your patients have them, etc. Go with the people who make you the most comfortable, because that's really important.

Good luck!

I had Lasik eye surgery almost 6 years ago and it was the BEST thing i ever did for myself! My doctor was Dr. Mielcarik, in Media, PA at the end of the Trolley run on State Street. 6 years ago you could have the surgery done in his Media office but I beleive you now have to go to another location for Lasik. He and his staff were fabulous. He laso was honest with me and told me I would most likely need glasses again in the future, but never the coke bottles that I had worn since I was 10 years old as well as semi-hard contact lenses. The best thing was before surgery, if your eyes have a bad stigmatism (shaped like a football rather than an egg) he requires you to be checked by a retinal specialist. Mine is Dr. Alan Ginsberg in Springfield hospital (also wonderful but with an incredibly long waiting time). Well, he discoverd I had 3-4 pretty major retinal tears/ holes and I was at risk for a retinal tear leading to blindness. Dr. Ginsberg fixed my retinal tears that night and i then had the Lasiks about 3 months later.

do it, Do it, Do it. You won't believe you waited so long.

You can contact me if you want to talk further and i can share my cell number with you or meet you in Media. All 3 of my siblings had the Lasiks at Dr. Mielcarik as well.

I had it done in 1999 with Dr. Byer in Bucks County. It cost $3000 and it truned out very well. Before the surgery, he told me due to my extreme nearsightedness (20/100 & 20/400) and my astigmatism that I would not be correctable to 20/20.

I am about 20/30 and I wear glasses at night when I drive. I discussed more surgery to correct and he said I could have it done but suggested that since I am can live with wearing glasses at night, I should just leave it alone.

I just had the surgery this past January at Kremer in King of Prussia. I had the bladeless interlace surgery. It was *fantastic* I still think its a miracle I can see without glasses.

I've got a lot more to say, but its my son's 6th b-day and I should be making pasta salad! Let me know if you want to know more about this proceedure. It cost about $5K for the whole thing (there are different programs that cost less, but I didn't want a razor blade going over my eye). And you need *way* more drugs than they give you. But after 2 traumatic minutes it is all worth it. Kinda like giving birth!

I did not have this surgery since I don't need it, but I know a few people who would like to do it (or at least who wanted to have it). Recently there was an article regarding the risks of this surgery. There are people (about 1%) who, after a few years, lose their vision, which cannot be corrected with glasses or anything else. There are many other risks, which you need to consider and see it this is worth doing.
Good luck!
