I've just decided to keep my 2nd son home another year since his 5th birthday is so close to the Kindergarten cut-off date of October 1st. But, I want him to be ready and would like to have him in a preschool or pre-k program. We live near Bear Creek school - anyone have some good suggestions? I would like something that is a few hours a day, but since I am a SAHM I do not need full time child care. Many thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi C.,

You might also want to consider Primrose of Bear Creek. It is on the NW corner of of Dartmouth and Kipling just north of 285/Hampden. We have our 3 year old there and we love it. Great teachers, great environment, great curriculum and the building has only been opened a few years. It is on the pricey side, but well worth the look. Good luck.

Foothills Preschool and Kindergarten. C-470 & Bowles in Foothills Bible Church.

They have excellent programs that are Jeffco curriculum and you choose when they go. 2-3-4 day programs. 9-12 each day. I think they added a couple of programs for the 2009-2010 year. They have a great Pre-K program as well. Both my kids went there and they were prepared for Kindergarten. (my son goes to Kindergarten this fall).

We just started our older son in one of the Jeffco preschools (in Arvada) and are liking it so far. All of the Jeffco preschools use a program called Tools of the Mind. www.toolsofthemind.org I've already seen noticeable differences in his pre-writing skills... it changes almost day by day!

If you like the philosophies there, then it's just a matter of finding a school where you feel they implement it in a way that will work for your son.

Best of luck!

I have a friend who teaches in the Silver State Christian School preschool. It sounds like a great program. I know I'd at least recommend her as a teacher. :) She's great. Their number is ###-###-####.
