I hurt my knee for the I don't know how many times this year. I have torn all the ligaments and tendons, also torn my menisci. We have no health coverage and I don't know what to do.I was told to stay off of it, but since I am a stay at home mom with a 2 and half year old and a all most 11 month old who walks thats not something I can do.I wish I had a friend who lived in the same state as me to, I don't come visit, talk to, and help me out. At this point I am loney and sad and it not helping with the pain. Sorry But I need to let go and have no where else to do this.

What can I do next?

HI D.,

I'm W. and live in Damascus. I think I could help you with both of the issues you mentioned. Regarding your knee did you see a doctor? If you know what the problem is let me know...I know of something that heals joints that is guaranteed, my mom uses it and a friend. Both of them have great relief and the healing is there, they both had injuries.

Regarding friends, I would like to invite you and your girls to our church's community MOMS group that meeting only once a month that is fabulous and meets a lot of needs for mothers and their kids. Let me know if you are interested in either of both - W.

just offering sympathy--I had a disabling back problem at this same kids-age

the pain loses sleep and the lost sleep causes pain and depression gets all mixed up in there too ...

I'm so sorry.

My main solution was to make sure I had a sleeping pad in each room I might have the kids romp in, and a baby gate across the door (or, as they got older and could climb the gates, I locked the doors) so they could play while I tried not to move ...

God bless.

Hi D.,
Do you live in Portland? I'll wait to hear from you before I spend the time looking up the info, but there are 3 or 4 clincs in Portland that provide free (yes free) or very cheap ($10, $20 or $45 depending on which clinic) Acupucture treatments. Sometimes you have to pay for herbs, but at the free clinic, even the herbs are free. These clinics are free or cheap cos of state or non profit funding but also cos you get treated by a student. This is how I know about them, cos I am a student of Chinese Medicine. I wish more people knew about these resources. We are of course supervised by a Doctor, sometimes the Dr does the treatment and we watch. Overall Acupuncture is excellent at treating musculoskeletal pain, but also emotional issues. You could get treated for the ongoing grief and depression you are experiencing after losing your son and treat the knee pain at the same time. I know that you still have to find someone to watch your kids, and pay for childcare, so its still hard to take care of yourself. But if you are in better shape you will be happier and be able to do a better job as Mom. Let me know if you want more details.

Hi D.,

I read your email and even though we don't know each other, I just felt the need to reply. Sorry to hear that you're going through so much and it's great that you at least are able to reach out to someone through this site. Feel free to email me back if you ever you just want or need to vent or talk...sometimes it's easier just to have someone to chat with and I'd be more than happy to be that someone....take care...

Try taking some alieve and ice every 2-3 hrs. When you feel better, start doing leg lifts and stretching out your quads and hamstrings. I have cronic knee pain, so this has helped me. Look up knee pain on the internet to see if you have just strained a tendon or actually hurt it. But if you streghten your quads they will support your knee. Good luck!
