I bought a Kirby 6 years ago and LOVE IT!!! I spent $630 but today a salesperson stopped by my neighbors house and told her it was $1600!!!! No WAY! I think that is outragous. Anyways, my neighbor called me over b/c she knew I had one and she wanted my input on it. I told the salesperson that I only paid $630 for mine 6 years ago and that my brother had worked for Kirby and so when I bought mine I got it for base price plus $100 extra for the salesperson. So, anyway, if anyone has purchased a new Kirby lately do you think it was worth it, and would you please let me know if $1600 is the going rate these days? (just trying to help my neighbor decide if it is worth it)
Oh ya - she already has/had a Dyson and she doesn't like it at all (it keeps breaking). That is why she is looking at Kirby now.

Never had a Kirby but LOVE my Dyson! I have a husband, 2 teenagers and 2 BIG-FURRY dogs and my Dyson keeps up with all of them!
I've had my Kirby for almost 25 years and it cost me about $700 way back then so you did get a good deal. I love my Kirby! It still works great. I hate their sales practices though. I would tell your neighbor to bargain with them and if they don't budge, send them on their way. They probably will come down in price if they want the sale.
You got a great deal on your kirby if you got it for $630. I bought my kirby generation 3 almost 20 years ago. Paid $1600 for it then. Is it worth it? oh yeah. It still goes as good now as it went then. I along with it got the sander and shampooer and all attachments to do cracks and crevices etc. We have had to replace a roller brush and the cord. But it is an amazing machine. In the same time we have had this vacuum my sister has been thru about 8. so while I paid a bunch up front she has paid a lot more thruout the years along with the headaches of having to shop over and over again. tell her it a great deal.
I didn't like my Kirby. $1600 is crazy!! I have a Dyson and love it.
I had a Kirby years ago and didn't care for it. It was very heavy, and I didn't think it worked that great. I do love my Dyson ball tho!! It is expensive, but much less than $1600!
