Hi all

I was just wondering at what age your kids were when you stopped using kids shampoo? My dd is 7 1/2 and I was wondering if its ok for her to start using my shampoo. Are there some shampoos that are not good for them or maybe you didn't use kids shampoo's at all. I just don't want to put anything to harsh on her hair.

Thanks again. :-)

What can I do next?

I think it comes down to the 'no tears' factor. When you feel they can switch to regular shampoo without getting it in their eyes. I have been using kids shampoo and then my conditioner for a long time. The kids' conditioners just aren't thick enough and don't do a very good job. My kids also like the fun scents that the kids' shampoos come in so we'll probably be using them for a while.

My kids are 10 and 4 and they both use the Suave kids shampoos. It's cheaper to me to buy the club pack at BJ's and them both use the same thing. My daughter do have long curly hair so she also uses an adult conditioner in her hair as well but I still buy Suave because it's cheap :)

I think it's more about getting it in their eyes. Kids/baby shampoo will not burn/sting their eyes, but adult's will. If she can keep her eyes closed while you/she rinses then go for it. My 5 yo dd uses my shampoo and conditioner with no problem.

Baby shampoo doesnt get the greasies out and at 7 they probably are starting to look like their hair is dirty, I would go ahead with normal shampoo.

There are lots of shampoos out there that are not even good for us, but that is another discussion.
If your child can rinse their hair without getting shampoo in their eyes, they can stop using "kid" shampoo.

She's old enough. If you would like a suggestion on a "natural" shampoo shoot me a message.

My daughter is 7 1/2 and has used adult shampoo for a long time, and has used conditioner even longer. I probably stopped using kid shampoo when she got good at keeping her eyes closed while rinsing her hair, but she has thick curly hair, so I started using my conditioner on her when she was 2 or 3.

My DS (3.5) has been using men's shampoo/body wash for at least six or eight months now. He wants to smell like Grandpa, so he uses body wash to smell like him.

My son will soon be 8 and he still uses kid shampoo. If he EVER gets to the "shower and do his own hair" point, it will boil down to the "no tears" factor....

Both of my boys use an adult 2 in 1. My oldest is a very sweaty kiddo and the kid shampoo just didn't seem to cut it on his very thick hair. As long as you don't get it in his eyes or he can do it good on his own it will be fine.

Suave Kids 2 in 1 plus my conditioner they need that extra softness plus the tangles in my girls hair really helps with the tears from combing them out.I also love Pantene for my kids & they will use it, since I get my club pack @ Sam's for Suave i'm just used to buying that for them since they like the smells they can keep their eyes closed & wash themsevels except for baby she is going on 2 soon.

My daughter is four and we've been using the same stuff for a while now. Her hair is nearly to her butt and kid stuff wasn't getting out the tangles very well, so we moved her up to a light shampoo and a full condition. More work but now it's much easier to get a brush through her long hair.

Asked her yesterday if she wanted to get it cut short and her eyes got wide and she said most emphatically, no.

I changed my daughter from baby shampoo when she was 3 because her hair was not growing well (very patchy). So my hair dresser told me that baby shampoo was the problem. I changed her to my shampoo and her hair started growing normally and no problems. I believe my hair dresser told me that baby shampoo was more for less pain if it got in their eyes. I hope this helps.

My kids still use the Suave for kids because it doesn't sting eyes...and they're 10 and 6. It has nothing to do with being good for them or harshness (and if it's too harsh, YOU shouldn't be using it yourself ;-) ) it has to do with burning their eyes.
