Hi M.,
We have taken our little ones to Legoland and they had a blast. It's located in Carlsbad, about 30 minutes north of San Diego.
We are vacationing in La Jolla Beach, CA next week. We have never been there, and didnt know if anyone else has and could give good advise on kid-friendly activities and restaraunts? reccomend any parks, or attractions geared towards 2 and 3 year olds? we plan to visit sea world- any must see events?
Hi M.,
We have taken our little ones to Legoland and they had a blast. It's located in Carlsbad, about 30 minutes north of San Diego.
We found that spending 2 days at Sea World was really a good plan. Our 3 year old practically took up residence at the sea star touch pool. We were able to see all the shows without racing from one to the next. Shamu's Happy Harbor was a HUGE hit too. We spent almost half a day there. It is basically a playground. Overall, the favorite shows through her eyes were Pets Rule (we saw that 3 times) and the Shamu show.
As for other attractions, we had a super time both at the beach and the "boardwalk" rides at Belmont Park and Mission Beach. My daughter thought we should have spent more time at the beach (we only got about half day there).
Scripts has the Birch Aquarium. I've not been there yet but it is on our to-do list.
Have a fabulous trip!
We've never really been to many attractions out there (we just visit friends and go to the beach) but the zoo is supposed to be great. I've always wanted to go but my husband hates zoos. Unfortunately, that's all the suggestions I have! Have fun!
Hi
I use to live in S. D. In La Jolla there is an aquarium. The zoo is great and there is always Balboa Park. I don't know of any resturants off hand. Have a great time.
Hi, M. its M., the san diego zoo is supposed to be great. there is also a pizza place I think its called organ house pizza. Awhole wall of the restaurant is full of organ pipes. its really fun for kids I remember it still from many years ago. there is a train museum in san diego. if you drive to san marcos there is lego land whick is great for the younger children. My niece just took her children to wild animal park but said alot of the animals were sleeping. My girls are 4and 5 I think I would wait to take them until they are older. but two really great places are legoland and sea world. they have really nice beaches in san diego, la jolla area and I think they even have a moms beach in la jolla.good luck have lots of fun and pack lots of bathing suits, sun screen and a rain jacket for sea world.
Hi M.,
San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park is definitely worthwhile. There's also the Children's Museum, the Fleet Science Center and the Natural History Museum also in Balboa Park. There is also Legoland located in Carlsbad, 30 minutes north of San Diego. Legoland is fantastic for kids your children's ages.
Also, Seaport Village is not too far away. It has lots of food and shopping, carriage rides and rickshaw rides. Also there are ships and an aircraft carrier docked for tours right nearby. Those are really cool to look at!
I have to say, my husband and I are partial to La Jolla. We were married there on the beach (Shell Beach, just down the big staircase) almost 4 years ago. :)
Have a great time and good luck!!!
