I use to live in Chattanooga Tennessee. It is a great place to visit. Lots of things for kids of your age. Lookout Mountain, Ruby Falls has a cave. There is an aquarium and in my opinion is just beautiful. Have fun.
We're trying to plan a mini-vacation and are thinking about going to Kentucky/Tennessee. We're looking at different options regarding cave/cavern tours, etc. Anyone ever do any of these? Any recommendations? We have an 8 yr old and a 5 yr old. So what ever we do has to be okay for them to do.

We have gone to several caves in KY and I recommend Kentucky Down Under right off I-65 at the Horse Cave Exit.
It has an Australian Theme and has a cave tour and lots of animals to see on the grounds.
It particularly caters to families.
Also we took our 6 year-old granddaughter to Onyx cave.
We tried to go to Horse cave twice in the past year but it was flooded both times.
Years ago we took our children to Mammoth Cave too so you might want to check into that too.
Happy caving!
Our family went to Mammoth Caves over spring break when I was still in HS. It was really cool!
We went to the cave at Meremac Caverns in Missouri with our then 3 yr. old. She loved it and has asked several times to return somtime. :o)
They'll love it.
My family went to the Mammoth Caves in Kentucky when I was young, and I LOVED it!! In fact, I can't wait for my son to be old enough to appreciate going on a trip like that (he's only 18 months now). Have a great time if you end up going!
