Vacation in July - Smoky Mountains?

I am looking for a vacation spot (4-5 days) for our entire family for July. Anyone ever been to the Smoky Mountains in July? I found a cabin that has access to the pool, but of course it is more pricey but looks amazing. Any additional ideas? We would prefer to drive, so has to be driving distance from MO! The cheaper the better, as I promised hubby I would keep the costs low!

What can I do next?

Did the Smoky Mtns. in July. Rented a house. It was one of the best vacations EVER!!! Very relaxing. You'll have a great time. A lot of the "entertainment" is provided by nature, fishing, swimming, tubing, etc. Have fun! We drove 18 hours to get there and it is worth every mile. Tell your husband it's a real man trip-he'll love it!

How about camping?

smokybearcampground.com this place was awesome ( mind you it has been years, but thier bathroom was nicer than any we have been at ever).

There is a ton you can do, for cheap in the smoky mountains. Many many hiking trails, cades cove, and so much more.

We went for our honey moon about 7 years ago, and rented a place for a week it was about $1000.00 at the time. It was beautiful!

Good luck

We went last year. It was AAAAHHHHHHHHMAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZINGGG! Can't wait to go again!! Yes the cabin is pricey. They are SO worth it. Our had video games, pool table and foosball table. The kids were entertained even in the cabin.

Do plan to spend lots of time in the mountains...that was one thing we didn't do enough of.

I dunno if you will be close but Dollywood was a BLAST too...

Lots of good shows in the area as well...

Hope you have fun! We are planning on going back in the next few years!!

We rented a cabin in the smokey mountains for my sister's wedding. It was beautiful. We spent a small fortune though. I'd check out the state and national parks nearest you. These amazing parks are very inexpensive to visit. Hidden in them is the best real estate the US has to offer - preserved for generations to come to enjoy. They are staffed by well educated rangers who are eager to educate and enlighten.

Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas is on my bucket list of parks to visit. How about Mammoth Caves near Bowling Green Kentucky? That's a lovely city full of friendly people to visit. Lots of lodging choices and other things to do other than caving. Or head north to Springfield IL and visit the Lincoln Home National Historic site. The tours are amazingly good.
