Keeping 1 Y/o Warm at Night

I put my daughter in a long-sleeved onsie and a fleece footie at night, but unless she keeps her blanket on, she's frozen in the morning. The fleece (Carters) is thin, so I've been looking for something thicker and warmer. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

ETA: I know about the sleep sacs, but she's running all over and very active. I can't imagine she'll be content in a sack even when she's sleeping. I can do the clothes under the fleece though! For those of you who do that, do you get a size bigger fleece to fit in the socks?

What can I do next?

I agonize over this almost every night. I put my son in long sleeves and long pants with socks but I don't use the blanket sleepers because he moves around so much and just gets caught up in it. For some reason, his bedroom is so much colder than the other rooms, so we put a space heater in his room that I have set at 70, so I think he is okay. The heater is one that looks like a radiator and will shut off if tipped over.

My girls never liked the sleep sacs, even in the crib, once they started moving around. You should start seeing the warmer fleeces coming out now. I have found really warm ones, last year, at The Children's Place and also at Costco. Watch for TCP sales. When their PJ's go on sale you can get some really great deals, but the sizes sell out quick. I have bought them at full price sometimes just because I really needed them and always felt they were worth the price.

also Target carries super warm, soft, crib sheets. I don't think that they are flannel,(could be) but soft and warm. They are in their baby section and come in different colors.

Can you keep her door cracked open once everyone is asleep? I ask because it sounds like the room isn't properly exchanging air. You need an outflow and an inflow.

I keep fleece footie pj's on my girls at night (in a crib). Try socks with them if you think it isn't enough. The upstairs is cool because we like it that way. Breathing in too much heat at night isn't good for anyone.

We used fleece sleepsacks until my daughter was two. I can't say enough about them. Wait for a sale or coupon and pick them up at Babies R Us.

Put her in a sleep sack - it goes over her PJ's and has a zipper.

Children's Place has nice warm blanket sleepers...and if it was really cold out, I'd put socks under them too!

How about the bags that you put them into? My 2 yr old is still in one as she wriggles out from blankets in the night.

I do long sleeve and long pants pj's with socks under the blanket sleeper. The sleep Sac works great too. Our nursery is the coldest room in the house (go figure), so when it's bitter out I do the thin long sleeve and pants, the fleece blanket sleeper, and the Sleep Sac. And we have a space heater in the room that is on from dinner until I go to bed.

Put her in a sleep sack. My son is also very active when sleeping, he ends up all over the crib. It's not a problem - just make sure you get a sleep sack that has lots of room by her feet. You're not trying to swaddle her :).

You get sleep sacks in different fabrics and warmths too, so you can experiment with what works best, and have some for summer or winter.

My 14 month old is VERY active too and I wasn't sure she would like the sleep sack but she did...I went to babyinabag.com and got the winter sack because it had breathable cotton, looked substantial, and was reasonable priced at $30. Maybe your daughter would surprise you and like it! If not, you can always try the fleece. Kohls has some nice Carter's brand fleece pajamas for toddlers. I would order a size larger because polyester is not breathable and babies/toddlers tend to sweat in it. The form fitting pajamas are more for cotton because cotton is not flame-resistant like fleece. (That's why some cotton is treated with flame-retardants - but that's another issue. Polyester is naturally flame-retardant so you don't have to think about that.) Good luck in your search!

EDIT: Halo also has a fleece wearable blanket. Maybe its the best of both worlds? It has feet for your little one. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=1028...

A sleepsack is probably your best bet. I kept using them with my kids as long as I could. I think you can find them in larger sizes. My daughter is really tall and we used them well past her first birthday.

I put her in carter's fleece jammies (with a onesie underneath) and then pop her into a Halo fleece sleepsack. I'm also going to sew some warmer crib sheets, either flannel or minkie, as that is warmer than plain cotton.

Halo sleep sacks are THE BEST! In fact, I buy them for every mom-to-be because not many know about them. I don't know what I would've done without them when my daughter was a baby.

I put socks, a long sleeve onesie and thin pants under a pair of fleece zip up jammies. It helps her stay warm since she wakes up if she's cold.

My 16mo. son loves his sleep sak. But if you don't think she'll like it because she walks around in her crib, then maybe check out these, Blankeaze Wearable Blanket for Babies at onestepahead.com.

I have not tried them myself, but they are footless and loose to fit over her footies. Good luck!

I highly recommend sleep sacks. www.lilbugger.biz is a great resource for them. They have up to 18 months size. They made a huge difference in my children sleeping soundly and not waking up due to cold. We first started using them when we lived in Europe. My friend came back to the States and started this company because nobody was making them here yet. These are like the European ones, which are fantastic!

Same issue here!

We have been putting our little one in light jammies under a sleep sack (not the one with a "tank" top, it has long sleeves and then a "bag" bottom). It seems to do the trick.

I have even done the light jammies with a fleece footie jams.

Stay warm.

Sleep sacs. I had my daughter in her grobag sleep sac until almost 3. My son is 18 months and active. The first time I put him in a sleep sac he got twisted, not he is fine and it KEEPS HIM WARM. Grobags are awesome and worth the money. You can get them on amazon.com. Do your research.. They come in different warmths. The Halo's are not warm enough for winter, unless they make winter ones. I was looking online tonight for another sleep sac for my 18 month old son and I saw one with openings for feet, but then I would think there feet would get cold. I put long underwear, top and bottom, on from Hanna Anderson, then a Carter's fleece sleeper and the sleep sac. If it's real cold, I add socks and a cotton onesie.

sleep sac might work, but if she's kicking a blanket off it might drive her nuts and, if her room is a cold spot in the house, it's likely a problem you'll face once she outgrows sleep sacs. my daughter was the same way--and her room is the coldest in the house. we bought a plug in radiator (from ace hardware i think) and it has worked great and kept her room warm. it's a super safe alternative to a "space heater" and just provides light radiant heat.

Sleepsacks. I put my son in these when he was your daughter's age. I believe I purchased them from one step ahead (online). I think I also remember putting them on my son backwards because he would open the zipper.
