J.C.
Nothing recently, but I do leave in two weeks for a 2 week vacation to Florida and the Bahamas with my best friend, no kids, no husbands. :)
Today's my 31st birthday, and I vowed to myself that I'd make it a good one, so I had a babysitter come this morning for 4 hours while I went to my chiropractor, and then to a spa for my first pedicure since my wedding (over 7 years ago.)
IT WAS GLORIOUS!!! The spa was pretty slow, so my technician spent 90 minutes (instead of the 60 I was scheduled for) on me, and my feet are so happy (and cute!) No more toe and dry, cracked heel shame!! :-)
So, what have you done for yourself lately, and why didn't anyone tell me how un-awkward a good technician can be with working on gross feet?

I took myself out on a date yesterday, while my car was being worked on.
I walked around the lake, got my nails done, bought myself a new book (well, used, but new to me!) and had a nice big salad for lunch at Whole Foods.
All in all, a lovely time :)
My goodness. I've done very little for me recently. Between my husband getting a heart transplant, my daughter's school and the neverending work drama, my time is so limited. Soon, I will sit down and read a good book. It'll happen soon.
happy birthday to you and don't you ever let 7 years pass without getting a pedicure.
really, for 15 dollars, you can save bit by bit and have that done often.
i haven't done anything special for myself for a while now except getting nook books and make time so i can sit and read.
I haven't done anything:( The last thing I did was to get new maternity clothes-in March.
I work out most nights during the week - for me and my health and sanity. LOL I am going to my girlfriends tonight for a few drinks and True Blood. Two weeks ago a few girlfriends and I had a sleepover at my parents when they were out of town (hello, hottub!) I do monthly girls night out :) Happy birthday!!!!
I had a medical procedure done on Wednesday afternoon, so I took the day off Thursday because I knew I would have a migraine. I did, but only until about noon. I didn't bring home ANY grading (that is huge for me!), and I stayed in pajamas all day long. I didn't do anything productive. That is so hard for me, but it was fabulous! I didn't clean house at all, didn't do any laundry or dishes, nothing. I did cook dinner in the middle of the afternoon so that I wouldn't have to later in the evening, but even that was enjoyable. I watch the movie, Larry Crowne, while I cooked (while wearing my pjs). Then I took a nap. It was heavenly! :)
Nice!
Last weekend I bought a new purse, new sweater, an oil reed diffuser and some notcards. Then my BFF and I went to a great concert.
Tomorrow is date night and I'm planning a day trip with a friend for later in the month.
I'm ALL about putting myself back on the list this month, aren't I?
I joined meetup.com and met some wonderful friends. One of the groups I joined is a writers group where we read and critique each other work. I love this, hopefully I will become a published writer.
I took a bubble bath the other evening & read some magazines while in the bath - does that count?
I'm going to get my hair done soon & want to get my car detailed as well.
Got a pedicure. Totally worth it.
ETA: Oops ... I hadn't even read your whole post, just the question!
So, yay for pedicures!!!
Yeah for you, Happy Birthday, here's 31 cyber birthday candles:
iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Since my youngest is in kindergarten, it has been much easier to focus on myself for a change. Here are things I am doing that *I* enjoy:
~Working for Political campaigns and getting paid
~Going to fundraisers has been a blast
~My husband is gone for a month for work; so I hired a cleaning lady to come next week
~Out to lunch with friends
~bought a scarf today
Enjoy your day and your toes
I know our toddler naps like a champ in the car with the opera going. Recently I took advantage of this fact and put him to sleep in the car so I could sneak off for a Starbucks spiced pumpkin latte and a pumpkin cream cheese muffin. Sitting in the Home Depot parking lot I savored every bite and drop while my son napped blissfully to Pavarotti. It was utter brilliance and the best couple of bucks I have spent on my own selfish indulgence in a while. Sometimes it really is about the small things. Happy birthday!
Today, I would be happy to just get to take a shower!!! LOL
I spent two hours without kids shopping last week. I strolled at a leisurely pace. Touched every item I wanted, smelled perfume, tried on shoes - ahhh heaven.
OOh ! and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Been getting up at 5am every day to work out with DH and started eating better. Week #2 is almost done :-). Also got a hair cut several weeks ago, which I adore.
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday!!!
I read the 3 50 Shades of Grey books to see what all the hype was about. It was fun just to sit upstairs and read or read while others watched TV. I forgot how much I enjoyed reading.
That was over a month ago...time for something for me! Thanks for the reminder.
Today I treated myself to a caramel banana frappuccino.
I am so jealous! I need a pedicure badly!
I got my hair done recently. I have long, healthy brown hair and I get some caramel and warm highlights done every 10 weeks. It feels SO amazing to get shampoed by someone else! I almost fall asleep every time!
I also run 2-4 times a week - my family knows to expect that time away, and sometimes I take the kids with me.
A pedicure SOMETIME is on my list!
Happy Birthday!!!! Glad you had such an awesome time :).
Two days ago I told my husband I was going out and so I went shopping and then got a hot chocolate at Starbucks. I haven't had time without my other older kids since I was pregnant 6 months ago. I took my baby with me but she was quiet---so it kinda counted :)
Just want to say happy birthday to you...glad you had such a great day :) It sounds heavenly!!
