Claire, Corinne or Samantha.

Alaina is a really, really bad way to spell it. It looks strange and people will always get it wrong.
Harper - too popular, better as a last name than a first
Kaylie - waaaaay too popular and way to many variations (Kaylie, Kayla, Kylie, Kyla.....)

Harper is VERY popular right now. I know 3 of them born in the past year.

I vote for Alaina or Claire.

If we ever have a daughter, we'll name her Elena.

1st choice - Kaylie
Then Samantha (Love this name! Also, when she's older & looking for a
job, she can give the shorter version "Sam" as calls get
returned faster since they think it's a man calling. As
far as we come......we're still behind in some ways.)
3rd choice - Harper

Congratulations! Hope you have an easy delivery & a healthy baby!!!

It's hard, since I don't know your last name, but my favorites are Claire and Samantha. They're names that will be fine for her as an adult as well as a little girl. James and Claire are a good pair of names. James and Samantha might be even more fun.

One of my daughter's first friends was named Kaylee (spelled diff., but pronounced the same), so I am partial to that. Harper is cute and trendy. I like Samantha the best because there are so many options for nicknames: Sam, Sammie, Mannie, etc... I think they are all pretty, and my least favorite of the choices given is Corinne - though I'm not sure why! :)

Congratulations and hope all goes well on the beautiful day she will be born!

Harper is very trendy right now, at least where I live.

I love Claire (&James)
And Samantha (&James)

I've always loved Samantha because if it suits her personality later she can be a Sam or Sammy.

Alaina isn't that popular...

Harper - is popular

Kaylie, Kailey, Kayleah are all popular right now...

Personally? I love Alexis - that would have been my daughter's name that we lost in 2004.

Out of those names? I REALLY like Samantha!

Not sure how much this matters to you, but Claire and Samantha are very popular right now, at least among girls around the ages of 10-12. Lots of Claires and Samanthas in our school, Girl Scout troop, elsewhere.

With Alaina, you might always be telling folks how to spell it and how to pronounce it -- when I see it I wonder, is it Ah-LAY-nah, or Ah-LANNAH or....? Something to consider. Kaylie also is one where you will get a lot of misspelling and questions -- I've seen Kaylie, Kailey, Kaylee, Kaileigh for this name. I like the sound, just be aware that your child will spell it for others a lot, for life.

Corinne I really like -- old-fashioned enough to be really classy; a standard spelling; but not a greatly used name any more (that I've heard). Goes well with an old-fashioned, classy name like James, to me.

Harper sounds a bit contrived (sorry, moms of Harpers) and unless you're really a fan of the author Harper Lee, I wouldn't go there. I haven't encountered any Harpers but my kid is older so it might be used a lot right now among young kids--?

Love them all except kaylie, it's the most child like one that she may not like as an adult. My favorites are Harper and Alaina, by far. Corinne, claire, and Samantha are pretty. I also like Clara! Congrats :)

I really like Claire, and it goes the best with James since it is classic and is one syllable. Not fond of any of the others and I dislike Corrine.

First choice: Claire. It's just timelessly beautiful. It'll never go out of style -- it's a perfect fit with the timelessly handsome name James :)

Second choice: Harper. It's ridiculously popular right now, but it's such a pretty, evocative name. I think of it sort of like the name Erin -- it'll eventually go out of style, but it'll always sound good.

Of the others...

Alaina has a pretty sound, but that spelling doesn't have much history behind it. It's a beautiful classic if it's spelled Elena, but that sounds like a different style from James.

Samantha just sounds dated to me. It's a cute name, but most of the Samanthas I've known are between 30 and 40 today.

Corinne I SHOULD like, I just don't somehow. But it wins for being both classic and not too popular.

And Kaylie is trendy in a short-term way. It doesn't have the classic staying power of James a all.

Good luck -- let us know what you choose!
