The Children's Place has adjustable waist plain jeans. As does Old Navy. Also Levis come in "slim" sizes.....good luck!
Hello,
My daughter is almost three but is petite. She wears jeans that are 18-24 months but they are too big in the waste and we have to roll them (otherwise she walks around all day "my pants are falling down!") but they are starting to get way too short. Any other mom's have this problem and what brands work the best? I know there are some out there that have adjustable waste but I can't remember what brands they are? I tend to like jeans that don't have all that pretty butterflies and flowers on them. I like plain jeans (like I would wear) but then cute tops with them.
Thanks everyone for the all the suggestions! I am a bit overwhelmed at the responce for such a "small" issue. I have a lot of those stores near me so I will go on a hunt. Thanks again!

Sears Brand Arizona had the cinch waist, and they ran skinnier in the waist than other jeans. My daughter had the same problem, she's almost 13 now, and still does! (she wears a 8 now in the waist) Her Grandma has to sew the sides sometimes, and up to age 4 she wore overalls a lot until she thought they were "baby" clothes. Good luck!
We have the same issue, but I don't like to spend much on jeans because they grow out of them so fast. We get "slims" in Walmart brand. They are my favorite.
If you want to go the belt route, here is an easy magnetic belt that toddlers can handle. We loved it. I'm sure there are others, but this is what we ended up with. It will expand and fit for years to come as well.

I usually find a lot of adjustable waist jeans at Kohls.
I have a very lean daughter who needs the bigger age for length but smaller around the waist , I have found that Oshkosh do a slim fit bootcut for girls , plain with no design over them , also Old Navy run quite small with adjustable waistband. I also like JC Penney , they are very reasonably priced and offer quite a few brands that are different styles and fits (okie dokie , Arizona) , there are more but cannot recall them off the top of my head.
I have a similar problem with my son who is 2. They're expensive, but I find that Janie & Jack have good length in their bottoms and do have an adjustable waist on some styles.
I also get lucky at the Children's Place from time to time in terms of length, and they are much more affordable.
My son is super skinny. We love the jeans from Carters that have the adjustable waist band. They also seem to be long enough for him, but not too long. I get the 24 months...instead of the 2T. The only difference I can see is the 24 m. seems to be a couple of inches shorter.
Another plus is Carters is always having coupons and sales.

I have the same problem with my 3 yr old. For her the Children's Place adjustable jeans work really well. You can get them without the frills and are very durabable. I know that Target sells at least one brand that is adjustable, though I am not sure exactly the name. Good luck!
as soon as she is in a size 4 (not 4T) there are "slim" jeans.. you will have no problems... even walmart has 4 slims for girls.
I had good luck with target cherokee for toddlers, childrens place also is good..
I usually compare several pairs of pants.. hold them up match the waist and buy the skinniest pair they have.. even with adjustable waist you cant cinch them in too much or they look ridiculous..
my daughter wore overalls until she was potty trained then we did a lot of legging outfits.. gymboree makes cute leggings .. also childrens place has cute sets with colorful pants and mix and match tops... target often has cute toddler sets..I rarely bought jeans cause they were too hard to fit and hard for her to snap at school.
my duaghtrer is 4 1/2 tall and skinny.. probably 41 inches and 31 pounds.. she is a 5 slim in pants.. and a 4 in tops..
My daugther is on the skinny side for her height also. We have had great luck with Children's Place jeans and some luck with Gap and Osh Kosh. The children's place ones are usually either completely plain or with a little embroidery on the back pocket, but it's subdued and and simple. All three of those brands have adjustable waist. If you like jeans with a little decoration, Gymboree ones are often cute too.
Skinny jeans & leggings seem to work best for my 17 month old since she's very petite. I usually get them from crazy 8, gymboree, gap, or carters..
Oshkosh with the built in belt - they're the best!
We have had better luck with elastic waisted jeans than adjustable waists. The best jeans I have found so far for my slender girl are Old Navy and Oshkosh. I think they carry Oshkosh at Target. I have also found them at outlet stores.

I have a friend who created a product called Dapper Snappers for this very reason. She had two petite toddlers herself and needed a way to keep their pants up. If you Google Dapper Snappers, you will surely find her. I know you can order online and she has been adding other brick and mortar retailers like crazy! They are an innovative and relatively inexpensive product to help with this issue. And the best part is, they do not need to be removed for diaper changes with the younger kidlets. Perfect!
I just wanted to add Hanna Anderson to the list. Yes, they are more expensive, but the waistline is more appropriate for the age (no low-riders, nice elastic waist that actually stays up.) I have found that it's not just the waist measurement that the little girls are having trouble with, it's the fact that the low-waisted pants just don't stay up when the girls are bending over. Although I am the mother of a boy, I have a preschool and have seen the pants issues time and again...the girls with the Hanna's have had NO trouble with pants, they wear well, etc. That's why I'm suggesting them.
Our son is not petite but is very skinny, so I've found most of the places that carry slim size pants for kids. I suspect these will give your daughter the fit you're looking for:
Lands' End
Gymboree
Crazy 8 (part of the Gymboree company)
Old Navy
Sears (found a ton of them in their store ... was really surprised)
Children's Place sometimes carries them
Another simple answer would be to learn how to sew in an elastic waist adjustment. It sounds harder than it is. My daughter wears a 4 slim now and even those are a little loose in the waist. She's tall so she has to have a larger size so she doesn't look like she's wearing high waters! Ha ha. Adjustable waist pants are definately a good way to go and once they get too short for my daughter I let her wear them next season in the summer as capri's.
I also found that Childrens Place has a good pants but their prices can vary from affordable to too much. I would look for them on Craigslist or at a childrens consignment shop.
I think that most toddler jeans and pants have the adjustable waist band - have you tried old navy, target, and children's place? Also, I think that a lot of kids have to have their pants rolled at that age - so it is just part of being a kid!
Hello,
My 7 year old daughter can still wear size 5 pants and 4 tops...I know your problem exactly. There were very few jeans that my daughter could wear. She ended up liking the stretch pants that hugged her waist. In fact, when other bought her jeans they just sat in her dresser drawers. There are a few that have the adjustable waist, I think Osk Gosh is one, but can't rememeber. My suggestion, so you have more choice is go the leggings route, multiple colors and they usually fit really well.
Enjoy your petite daughter!
Positively,
M.
I have the same problem with my 3 year old son. I buy his jeans from Crazy 8. I get the ones that have the adjustable waist and that are cuffed. That way I can uncuff the jeans when they are getting too short. It works out perfectly. They are very reasonable priced also. Around $8 or $9 a pair. I have bought them at the store and on-line.
I liked polo/Ralph Lauren and gap for my skinny toddler. Almost all brands seem to have the adjustable waists now. I got a lot of really good deals on jeans at nordstrom rack and eBay. Also at the Polo and gap outlets in tulalip!
My daughter has a hard time finding jeans that fit too. She is 3 and is wearing 24 month jeans and pants like capris. But overall, she likes leggings better anyway.
Sears Canyon River Blues has the adjustable waist & they have several plain styles, they even have skinny sizes. With a Sears card & the kid club if my daughter wears them out before she grows out of them I can just take them back for a new pair. I usually stock up when they are on sale, regular prices are $14.99-$19.99 on sales they are usually under $10. I have exchanged two pairs already no questions asked because she wore holes in the knees. My daughter is 8 & still not 60 pounds. The sizes start at 2T in the little girls jeans section.
My daughter is 2 and very slim! I am having to put her in 24 month jeans for leangth, but without the band they are all TOO big! In fact I had to get her all 18 months capris and shorts for this summer because 24 months fall right off!! :) I am facing a similar problem, but I ALWAYS buy Childrens Place jeans and they have adjustable waist bands for lil guys and those work wonderful! I do sometimes get Old Navy jeans as they also have the adjustable band! They have very simple jeans! I like that I can get plain ones without all the designs on them as well! good Luck!
Children's place has the best adjustable jeans I have found. I love them because they look like mommy and daddy's jeans. No butterflies or gum drops. Just good sturdy adorable jeans that adjust. You might have to try getting some capri's. I have the opposite problem with my daughter, she is very full in the mid section, but shorter in the legs. To get pants to fit around her waist, the legs are 3 inches too long. Capri's work great.
There are adjustable waisted jeans all over now. (They are the ones with the elastic and the buttons inside) They work well for tiny kids :)
I have this problem with both of my kids. My son is five and my daughter is three. The two kind of adjutabe waist jeans I like the best are old navy and the childrens place.
I hope this helps. Have a good day!
My daughter is exactly the same although she is now 8. I have found that the neatest fit jeans come from Primark closely followed by the French catalogue La Redoute.
My kids are now 8 and 10 and I still buy them jeans with adjustable waist from Old Navy. They have been the best so far. I've found that Children's place jeans are not true to size, Old Navy ones have always fit perfectly.
Try GAP, Target and Old Navy. They all carry adjustable waist jeans. The Gap Skinny jeans are FABULOUS! My daughter is 4 and can still wear her size 2T skinny jeans from the gap...granted they are getting short, but tucked into boots you can't tell.
Children's Place is good as we as Old Navy
My son is also very slim - he is 4 now, but can wear 24 month jeans (they fit the waist, even though they are too short). Along with all the other suggestions, we've had good results from Cherokee jeans at Target (they seem to be a slim fit even in the smaller sizes) and HealthTex from Wal-Mart (adjustable waists).
I buy a lot of Green Dog brand jeans from Macy's for my girls (ages 2 & 3). They typically have some "every day value" jeans with adjustable waistbands that are very affordable. Not to mention they always have stuff on clearance and on sale. I've also been very happy with the way the Green Dog brand jeans hold up thru wash and wear. I have also purchased one pair of adjustable waist Levi's at Macy's for my older daughter. They seem to be fine as well, they are just more money than the Green Dog's.
I had the same issue with my daughter... the best places to get pants (and shorts!) that I found was at good ol' JC Penney and K-Mart. Both have "slim fit" jeans and shorts that go all the way up through Jrs.
