I am trying to eat healthier and heard that the Jack LaLane Power juicer works great. Before I buy one, I just wanted to know if any of you have one and how you like it? Could you also tell me some simple smoothie recipes you use? I'd love to find a good smoothie recipe that includes protein, fruits and veggies. Thank you! Happy New Year!!

What can I do next?

I have a juicer, thought it would be great.... but you lose so much fiber it's not worth it. If you are supposed to be on a low fiber diet a juicer would come in handy for that. They are also hard to clean.
I use a blender/food processor combo (extremely easy to clean). It turns everything I want into a smoothie or a sauce. I would go that route if I were you. Just throw fruit in and add some water and ice and you'll have a much healthier juice than the juicer can give you. Any fruits and veggies with edible skin can be blended. Mines an Oster, its not one of those 400 dollar ones and it works just fine.

I did quite a bit of research and in my opinion the Omega Juicers are the best. It does not eat the food items so maintains enzymes.
One of the other posters is right, you do lose a lot of fiber, BUT it is an easy way to mix fruits and vegetables you might not eat or eat together on a regular basis. And you can often add the pulp to soups/stews and even muffin and bread mixes.
I will usually juice an apple or orange for a little bit of sweetness. Then a stalk or two of celery, carrots, broccoli or whatever I really have on hand. I plan to venture onto things like kale since it is nutrient dense but can be rather bitter.
Good Luck.

We do have one. If I was going to spend the money I would get a vitamix or blend tec instead. I am actually trying to get one now. The juicer works great for making juice, but when you juice veggies you lose so much of the fiber that is in the skins and vegetable itself. We juice when I feel like the family needs a little detox. Also, with this specific juicer it doesn't work for smaller vegetables like spinach, parsley, wheat grass, it just doesn't get juice out of those small types of leafy vegetables. We make lots of carrot and celery juice. The vitamix and blend tec are more like blenders where you get the whole vegetable and they work WAY better. Good luck!
