I don't know about ipods, but my husband dropped his phone in the shower, and the guy at the store said we could try just replacing the battery, and drying out the rest of it with rubbing alcohol. Good luck!

Put it in a container of uncooked white rice and leave it there for several days (could take a couple weeks). The rice will draw out the moisture.

Hope this helps but the dryer may have caused more damage than just water damage from the washer.

It may be... Probably more from the heat than the water. Here's what you can try though... First: DO NOT TURN IT ON! This holds true for any piece of electronic equipment that gets dropped in water - the ocean, the toilet, etc. The water itself may not have damaged the equipment if the equipment was off at the time. What usually kills your electronics is the short circuiting that happens as the electricity bounces around inside because the water and all of the impurities from the water make new channels for electricity to travel on.
Even when the item has dried - DO NOT TURN IT ON! The residue left behind from water (all that iron, or particularly salt from sea water) can also make new contacts and short your item.
If you are electronically savvy, you can open the item up and rinse it with distilled water. Wait for it to fully dry... and I mean fully... leave it alone for days. Then, and only then, put it back together and see if it works.
If you are not electronically savvy, I recommend taking it to a good repair place and explaining to them what happened.
Fingers crossed for you!

I'm pretty sure it's ruined. My son took his into the pool for 10 minutes (he had it in the pocket of his swim trunks). We did the whole several-days-in-rice thing, but it was totally dead. It was a real bummer.

My daughter got stuck in a huge rain storm and it too over a month for her phone to work again. I am not sure with the ipod but for the phone they said not to try turning it on for a month, take the battery out and leave it some place to dry out.

my sons ipod went thru the washer. it was ruined. we did the whole letting it dry out thing but it is a goner. if you replace it best buy now has accidental insurance for like $25 or $30 bucks and an accidental washing machine accident is covered. we made sure before purchasing it lol

Sorry to hear it.

I did the same thing with my son's ipod touch...and it was ruined.

However, I would suggest you check out the website isickbay.com. I did and really liked the guy. He specializes in ipod repairs and has fixed many with water damage. The website was interesting and I called and had a long chat with the owner. I sent my son's itouch to him, and he was unable to fix it. It's $60 to repair a touch model, and $40 for a regular ipod. If he cannot fix it, he refunds 1/2 of what you paid. So, yeah, we were out $30 + the itouch - we lost on that gamble, but when we threw it out, we were sure it couldn't be fixed. He told me the sooner you get it to him after the damage, the better your chances are of him fixing it, so if you're interested, you should act quickly. It's worth a call - # is 1-877-ipod-pro.

And...I have no vested interest in this guy...I just found him on-line when I was searching for a place to have my son's i-touch repaired...and I searched for a while and made a few phone calls and liked this guy best of everyone I talked to.

Good luck!
