Is My 7 1/2 Month Old Just Experiencing Teething Symptoms??

About 2 1/2 weeks ago my son got a cold (runny nose/little cough) and had a low grade fever; he also had some issues pooping where his tummy was hurting (pushing hard to poop) and I couldnt figure out if these were related to maybe the flu so I took him to the doctors just to check up on him. The doctor thought is was just a cold and told me that it just had to run its course. Well, the cold has run its course and he is better now but still has the low grade fever sometimes. Pretty much every day, usually at night when I check his temp its around 99.4-99.8 degrees. He doesnt have it all day it just pops up at different times of the day. I am pretty sure he is teething, he is drooling on everything, biting hard, is sometimes fussy and has started waking at night crying/fussing. But, my Ped doesnt believe that a fever is caused by teething, but I know other doctors do so I dont say anything to him about it... I am just wondering if this fever he keeps having is really teething?? My other son didnt get a fever like this and since its been a little over two weeks I am wondering if something else may be going on. But he doesnt have any other symptoms. Oh and he doesnt have any teeth yet, I am waiting for them to pop out any day now! :)

Have any of you experienced this on going low grade fever and found that it was related to teething?

I plan on taking him to the doctors but with no other symptoms I dont know what my doctor can do or say. Just looking for advice before I take him.

Thanks!

My son would get a fever just in the evening and during the night too when he was teething. It was nerve-wracking, but nothing else was wrong so I just made sure he was comfy during the day and had a cool washcloth or cold chew toys to gnaw on.
I wouldn't give him any pain medicine unless he's obviously in pain from it because it can be really hard on a babies digestive track and their kidneys/liver.
Sounds just like teething to me, and if he's not acting sick or coughing or throwing up, I wouldn't take him in. Drool is another telltale sign of teething, too.
Good luck, he'll get past it soon! :)

yes, we experienced this. It is so sad and awful. Give baby tylenol or motrin and he'll feel better. If you are still concerned have do run some blood work. But if he is drooling a lot then he is probably teething. Teething for my son caused a temperature and cold like symptons. Or the teething caused my son's immune system to be run down so he caught a cold, but either way tylenol helped a lot.

It sounds like it could be teething. Medicine or Hylands Teething Tablets can be used.

My daughter always runs slightly higher than normal - around 99 or 99.5 so I don't consider her to have a fever until she's at 100 or higher. Just a thought!

My son hasn't been running a fever or having diahrrea but has been drooling like crazy and clamping down on EVERYTHING for 3+ months but no teeth yet!

I think it sounds like teething, freeze some wet baby washcloths in the freezer, he will enjoy chewing on them. Remember teeth can feel like little pins or needles coming through, so they do not feel well. They can teeth for weeks before you will be able to see or even feel the teeth..

FYI, fun fact. Teeth come in the in the same order they will fall out for their permanent teeth!
