EXPECTA LIPIL!!! Can be bought anywhere including Walmart. Best and safest to take since it is made for pregnant women. Only costs around $10/mo. Congrats!!
I'm going to see my doctor next week but was wondering if anyone here could answer. Is fish oil safe to take during pregnancy and how much? I'm currently taking Nature's Made 6 pills a day/ to lower triglycerides and just found out I'm pregnant. Thank you

I'm not familiar with the Nature's Made brand but I do know that Nordic Natural's Omega 3-6-9 capsules are made from fish that are free of mercury. Another option, if you don't feel comfortable taking a fish oil supplement, is purchasing a bottle of flaxseed oil and pouring 1 to 2 tablespoons of that each day on your food or maybe mixing it with your salad dressing.
absolutely! Make sure the fish oil you are taking is from cold water fish- less pollutants. How much are you currently taking?
Not only is it safe but it's great for you and baby! Love that you are taking a good amount as well! (1 a day like most bottles say just isn't enough).
It is safe - your Dr. should be able to confirm that for you as well!
Best wishes on your pregnancy!!
**Side note - it IS a natural blood thinner so advise your dr. on your dosage amount and IF you end up needing a c-section, you may need to stop taking it a few weeks before baby comes.
My doctor said it was fine when I was last pregnant. In fact, she encouraged it as it can sometimes help lower blood pressure.
Yes, just take normal adult dosage. And make sure it is a high quality fish oil. Some of the cheaper brands are not as pure and there could be a possibility of mercury in them. We also do the Nordic Naturals and it is independantly tested. You can order online on their website, on amazon, or you can look up a local store that might carry it.
Nordic Naturals makes a great one- DHA prenatal, that contains fish oil. It's great for your baby's brain development! :)

I'm pretty sure it's encouraged. The prenatals my doctor prescribed had a whole separate pill that was fish oil.
Of course, (TMI alert) burping up fish oil taste is *not fun* when you have morning sickness. So you might want to shop around for one that doesn't cause that lovely side effect.
TOTALLY! In Norway we have something called Mollers Tran. It is fish oil in a bottle and you take a teaspoon every morning whether pregnant or not! It's very good for you and baby and is high in Vit D which helps stave off PPD.
Congratulations! It's the most tumultuous, wonderful, scary time of your life, enjoy every minute!
Oh and may I recommend that if you have morning sickness, eat some raw veggies with dip, it works wonders!
