I recently thought I was pregnant but then I started bleeding or so I thought.. I started bleeding on May the 8th.. and I bled about two days.. it was enough bleeding to hold a tampon.. and I would change it out maybe every 6 hours.. it would never be completely soaked..then after those two days or so.. instead of blood, brown discharge came out..and it was like that about 2 to 3 days.. so altogether it was about 5-6 days...first two consisted of bleeding, the rest consisted of brown discharge.. Due to my suspicions of pregnancy, my doctor told me stop taking the pill.. which I had been missing and not taking reguarly.. so I am not sure if this is withdrawal symptoms from stopping the pill or if this was a mini period, or implanation?? I kind of feel like it is not from stopping the pill because I didn't take it regularly from day one.. i always missed pills.. so I didn't think it got in my system to affect me like that, but what do I know? Im not a doctor..so any inputs?? any thoughts?? could it be a mini period or implantion or withdrawal symptoms??

I just wanted to answer some of the women's questions, no I never bled like that after missing a day or two of pills.. this is a first.. Im not even sure if the pill was even in my system because I always missed pills from day one..I know you have to take the pill for a month straight for it to start to work.. and I didn't even do that, so Im not sure if it was even effective. And Yes I am having some sypmtons, Heartburn and soreness of boobs, and cramps.. but it was nothing like my first.. My first was much more painful, but I am not sure if that has to do with my body already experienced it so it's not as painful...I have been told that.. I am just going to wait till June and if i miss a period then I will know otherwise, Im not going to stress about it! Thanks! any more insight would help!
**ANOTHER UPDATE**
It is now May 27th.. and my last real normal period started on april 23rd.. then i had that weird spell starting around may 8th.. where i bled lightly the first day, bled the 2nd, then day 3-6 I had brown discharge...So I am four days late from my last real normal period.. the spell I had on May 8-12th..I am not sure if it was a period or not, so any more insight would be great... I am planning on waiting till June the 8th.. and then it will be exactly a month since my spell or my mini period on may the 8th.. and if I didn't start I would take a test.. I have been really emotional lately.. like I was with my son..but it could be stress!!
My first question is...have you taken a pregnancy test? Other than that it could just be getting back to normal after having a baby. Things get pretty screwed up for a while.
It could be that you're pregnant or it could be a screwy period. My periods have been so funky the last 6 months I don't even worry about it anymore. This last time I bled for 1 day, random spotting for 2 weeks, then bled again for nearly 2 weeks, with a few days of the brown discharge. Try doing a home test and see what it says. That can possibly put to rest some worry. If you're still worried in a few days, call your doctor and see what he says.

I was the same way with the pill, I could never remember to take it all the time, and I'm shocked that I never did get pregnant while on it. Because I didn't take it regularly there would be weekends that I would go away and forget my pills at home. So after two or so days not taking them I would start to bleed, just like as if it were a period (my periods are kind of light like you described anyhow). So I don't know... it could be just your body coming down off of those hormones. Did you ever bleed unexpectedly before after not taking the pill for several days?

Since there is a possibility of all then it might be best to take a test.But with my second child I had the same,the bleeding for a couple of days and then the brown discharge and a soon after I found out I was pregnant.But I also have never taken the pill so I don't know what that does as far as periods.Have you and your husband been trying? Or is there something leading you to believe that youmay have gotten pregnant other than the bleeding.Are your breast tender,do you pee often?Feeling sick? Since you just had a baby there is no telling how our body may react to a new one.So just take a pregnanct test and go from there.
Hi D....it's not uncommon to shed "old blood", which will be brown and yucky. I would take a pregnancy test ASAP and then put yourself back on the pill if it is negative. Good luck!
If your baby is only 4mo, your body is still working on recovery from having him. That could explain a lot. That said, I did have something very much like that happen when I was expecting my youngest two kids. The DR told me then that sometimes when we are dehydrated we will bleed a little while pregnant. He had me get off my feet for a couple of days and drink lots of water. I was far enough along to know I was pregnant for sure though. I guess my advice would be to drink lots of water and see what happens in the next couple of weeks.

It is amazing how similar our situation is. My son just turned 4 months on the 15th and I thouhgt I was having another child. Nearly lost my mind (lol). I took two at home test that were positive and tooka blood test at the DR office which was negative. As crazy as it sounds I think what may be my period is on today but it is Brownish discharge substance. I don't know what to think.
