Hi Moms,
I'm writing to you because I am unhappy about my inner thighs. You see I gave birth to my first baby almost five months ago and already lost a lot of my pregnancy weights but my inner thighs are terrible. I was hoping if any of you have this problem.Any advice on how to make my inner thighs firm would be appreciated.

good old eating right and exercise should do it. But do realize not everyone just pops back into their previous shape, some people have changes that last forever. Example, I have wider hips, can't change that. Best wishes.

Hi A.,

Congratulations on losing most of your baby weight! It is a little difficult to target one part of your body and probably better to try to hit them all, but here a few ideas. Pilates or pilates-inspired exercises might be helpful because some will focus on your core muscles as well as your lower body. Jennifer Nicole Lee has a Lower Body Burn DVD that is about 30 minutes and a really intense lower body workout. (I am in pain for days but it feels great.) You will probably want to make sure you are working outer as well as inner thigh muscles to balance your lower body. Women's Health magazine and Shape magazine (both available online) have lots of good target exercises and workouts that are also short. Good luck and don't be too hard on your body. It's been through a lot! :)

Lay on the floor on one side and lift one leg up, then down(kinda like a scissor opening) and do this till you feel the burn and trust me you will feel the burn. Make sure the other leg is bent to the side.
Be patient doing any exercises. I am not overweight but have been doing exercises to build muscles and after five months I am finally seeing results. Also make a plan you can stick to. Decide how many days and minutes you can do this.
Luckily the inner thighs are just supporting muscles and they respond quickly to exercise. Make sure you are consistent and you have a meal plan that cordinates with your exercise program. You want to eat the right food in the right amounts or your body will have a hard time recovering from the exercises(I learned the hard way). You want enough energy to do more the next day.
Also, if you can get to a gym, they may have the inner thigh machines that are wonderful!!!
I think if you do all the exercises suggested you'll have rockin' thighs in no time.

Try doing pilates exercises, yoga and inner thigh lifts. Tae Bo exercises are great too b/c they burn lots of calories! Check out the Fit Pregnancy website. Or SELF Magazine website or Fitness Magazine website. They all give TONS of good exercise ideas for targeted areas. Walking and running are good too. Side Lunges...its such a trouble spot for most women. Congrats on the new baby!

You need to excersize, and build muscle.

I just finished a "boot camp" fitness programthat was intense but fun. (Summit, NJ run by Kevin Haag, if you want to look it up). One of the things we did was stand on slippery plastic plates and shuffle from side to side. We also got resistance bands that strap to your ankles and they were good.

There's a video called 10 minute solutions pilates and they have one 10-minute leg workout, along with 4 other 10 minute workouts. I enjoy using that -- just weights and a small floor space needed.

Congratulations on your new addition and your upcoming nuptuals.

There are several great exercises you can do to tighten those troublesome inner thighs. Here is my favorite and you can do it anytime anywhere.

Stand up and brace yourself by using a chair or the countertop for balance. Extend the leg opposite the hand you are using for balance forward. Swing that leg across the leg you are standing on. Do about 10-15 reps to start then change sides.

The wonderful thing about this particular exercise is it gives results relatively quickly and is real easy.

Good luck to you with everything.

A.,

Congratulations on the new baby and the engagement, what a happy time for you. Feeling bad about your body can ruin it, don't let it get to you too much but don't ignore the problem either. Try an elliptical machine if you can go to the gym. Otherwise put your baby in the stroller and walk, walk, walk. If it ever stops raining you can walk outside, otherwise try going to the mall early in the morning before the crowds.

Good luck,
R.
