Infection from Hot Tub?

I'll be as delicate as possible with this..."down there" has been red, itchy and inflamed to the point of actually bleeding ever since I was at a b 'n' b where hubby and I were celebrating our 19th anniversary. We spent some time in the room hot tub and about a week later I developed this soreness. It started out very itchy and weepy and has progressed to just sore and inflamed. To my knowledge I have never had an STD or yeast infection so this sudden whatever-it-is has me worried. It has not responded to being kept dry, diaper rash cream or anything else I have tried. I don't want to have to see my doctor unless it gets worse. What else can I try over the counter?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I am making an appointment for Monday, the quickest I can get in. To be honest, I'm afraid I might find out that some unprotected sexual activity from the late '80s may be coming back to haunt me, though I've never been diagnosed as having problems before. For now I am trying out AZO cream, sleeping au naturel and keeping hubby at bay. Thanks to everyone who responded!

I'm sorry, but I think you're already at the point where you need to see the doctor. This sort of thing is why you have a gynecologist.

Oh gads, stop using anything you can find under your counter to avoid seeing your doctor. Please at least when you get to the liquid plumber you consider the folly of your actions and call the doctor.

Your experiments could have made it get worse and landed you in the emergency room. :(

You can get an infection from a hot tub. If it does seem bad, go to the doc and have it checked. Heat actually grows bacteria instead of kills it. Since you do not know what it is, get it checked out.

I know you don't want to go to the doctor, but you should. Sorry, not what you want to hear, but it's your health!

Red, itchy, inflamed and bleeding is not normal. This is a reason to visit the doctor before it gets worse, it sounds like it is already.

You're bleeding, itchy and inflamed and you've tried quite a few things to fix it.... how much worse than that could it get?!!? I seriously would not go one more day with those symptoms, especially down there. See a doctor.

It might be worse than you think already, because it's been a week and nothing is helping. I agree with the other ladies, you should see your doctor.

Gotta see the Dr. If you don't have insurance you can go to planned parenthood for stuff like this.
Good luck!

you might need an antibiotic/antibacterial cream that your doctor can prescribe for you. Does it itch only on the outside of the "skin" or all around and inside too?

Sounds like a severe yeast infection and you need to be seen by an MD. I got one twice at the same hot spring resort and my husband got terrible athletes foot twice at the same resort. (we haven't been back after the 2nd round) When yeast infection are this severe, the OTC stuff just doesn't cut it. Get to the doctor ASAP.
