They merely caught up with cleaning up the spam.
Better late than never.
I saw nothing in the acknowledgement they sent you that made me think they were unhappy or irked with you.
Don't worry - you won't go poof!
This question seems to have 'poofed'!!
I did get this lovely reply from mamapedia!
"Dear F.,
Thank you for reporting an unsolicited answer on Mamapedia.
Members may not use answers as a way of advertising a business or opportunity unless this is specifically asked for in the request.
We rely entirely upon members to report unsolicited answers, and we sincerely appreciate your help in keeping Mamapedia spam-free!
Warmly,

I wonder if my account will 'poof' next?
I see the 'spam bot' posts have disappeared as well.
It is 'an ill wind that blows no good at all...'
I think of this phrase often lately as the winds around here have BLOWN the leaves from my two mighty maples from MY yard throughout the neighborhood. Some neighbors are none too happy I suspect.
lol
Neither is mamapedia!
lol
Best to all!! (in the event *I* POOF!!)

Hi! No one is going *poof*.
Moderation is but ONE of the job functions I perform at Mamapedia. True, I do not moderate daily, but as often as possible.
The reason I stopped sending response emails was because email providers like Yahoo! and Hotmail decided that if someone received too many emails from one place, they would potentially view that business as a spammer and stop delivering emails altogether. I didn't want that to happen, so I slowed down the email responses.
The spam bots do come and go, however, they are not as bad as they once were six months ago. We try to mitigate their impact, but it's not as easy as putting in a filter. They find ways around them.
You are free to voice your opinion about MMP as you wish. But people here do care. But behind the scenes, not everything is as simple as it may appear.
Thanks for continuing to be a part of the MMP community.
Sincerely,
M. (and other functions).
I got the same message. Which was pretty funny since I don't think I reported it, just commented on it, but maybe I did ...there are so many, I lose track!
You will never go poof, sweet lady! I do think that the spam bots come in waves. I doubt they ever even see any answers - they just come in and go out. They are hoping for just a few people to fall for their scams.
I got the same email you got for reporting the two NY spamming emails. Funny that they saw answers when I reported questions!
I think they tend to pull any posts which reflect negatively on the site. Not so much about the site users, but complaints about moderation and functionality.
WOW!! You got a message thanking you for reporting!! ?!?!!? WOW!!! that hasn't happened in a LONG time!!!
I reported those questions and didn't get a note!! BOO!! I'm all upset now!! I'm gonna throw a hissy fit!!!
I didn't know you got messages if you reported. I have reported all of those spam posts!!
Ha! I think you're right. This week has been a spam bonus week. Really, what a mess!
Funny that you posted this. I got the same thank you from MP (first one in forever) and went to update my post and/or message you, and saw that POOF you were gone!
So the question is, did they read the critiques of MP and decide they'd better give some member response? Or did they just get a new moderator or two who are quicker on the responses?
I know the trolls will come, and I realize they've often had several margaritas too many, or they're bored or immature, but personally, I love reading the witty answers from the savvy Mamapedia moms who don't fall for this junk, but who have so much fun crafting clever replies! They make me laugh!
