The best college for working students with families is the University of Houston - Downtown. I am a full time student with three little ones of my own (returning after having too much fun at TAMU 10 years ago!) and they have classes all the way from 7am (I have taken many of these) to as late as 8pm, I think, in addition to Saturday classes. The professors know most of the students have full time jobs and families and are very understanding. In addition, it is a community college but functions as a major university, meaning financial aid is uncomplicated and on time. Most of the classes are centered in one building and the univerity is easy to reach on the Metro light rail. My mother got her degree there a few years ago after being out of school for over 15 years and was able to transfer her old credits. I highly recommend you check this place out. Good luck. It is worth it and UHD makes it easy.

Y.,
I am 26, and I have a 18 month old girl. I go to school in the evenings at the University of Houston. There are a few moms in my classes who work full-time and go to school at night. It's hard, but it's totally do-able!

I would call up a school like the University of Houston, or Houston Community College, and see if you can meet with an academic advisor. They can help you plan out the classes you need to take in order to get your Business/HR degree. They can even help you find night classes or weekend classes which might work with your work schedule or around your son's daycare needs.

One good thing about U of H is that they have online classes. I'm in the English dept, so I don't know what kind of online courses the Business school offers, but I'm sure there is something.

My mom is a 54 year old grandma and she JUST started going back to school to finish her degree. If she can do it, we can do it! ha ha.

Good luck!

I don't know where you're located, but the North Harris Montgomery Community College System is also a good place to look. They have several locations, and a ton of programs, certificates, and degrees to choose from. They also have a childcare program while you're in class, plus online courses. In my opinion, their website is a nightmare. You'll need to spend some time working through the maze of links to get the info you need, but they do have great options. If you're serious about it, I would recommend going in and actually talking with an admissions counselor. Good luck & good for you! www.nhmccd.edu
