Do you have one that you love? If so, please share.

I am looking for a long, warm coat that isn't wool. I need one that is machine washable and doesn't bunch up in the washer.

Thank you.

What can I do next?

My husband and boys bought me a hot pink Betsey Johnson coat for my birthday. I love it! It hits my knees and has two layers of wide ruffles and is belted, so it looks like a dress. I get more compliments on it than on any piece of clothing I've ever owned. It's fabulous! They got it at Nordstrom.

ETA: It may not be warm enough for you. It's a warm coat for Texas, but probably isn't as warm as the other coats mentioned. ;)

I was on the same hunt two years ago.....I went with landsend parka. I think it does the job just fine. Love the fit, pockets and hood.

LL bean was nice but too short in the arms. I ordered a regular size, and I am 5'4/ regular length arms, so that surprised me.

Eddie Bauer was really nice but they had a problem with the down. If you read the reviews from 2011/2012 many report a rotting scent from the jacket that could not be washed out. I tried them on in the store and Infact noticed the scent. Nice fit to jacket but who wants to smell?

I second the Eddie Bauer coat. I bought one to stay warm when I take the kids to the park in winter --yes, we go to the park in winter. I really like it.

I love my Lands End coat. Super warm and washable. It has lasted me for several years now and still looks great.

Try Lands End, or LL Bean. I would think a down coat is what you're looking for. I have a down vest and jacket, one North Face and one Columbia, I got both of those at Sports Authority.

I got one from Roaman's or Lane Bryant last year. It's fiber filled so it's very light weight but it's incredibly warm. I have walked in 20 degree weather and was warm enough.

This was one of my possible choices. I wasn't sure about the down filler though. It's a great length because it won't drag the ground when you go up or down stairs and won't drag on the car when you get in.

Just keep looking for one with polyester fiber fill and machine washable. I love mine and wash it every couple of weeks.

We're big fans of the Lands End down-filled coats. And just a tip regarding washing them...toss a couple of tennis balls in the dryer when you dry your down coat. The tennis balls will keep the down from getting bunched up anywhere inside the coat.

I have the North Face Metropolis parka. I spend lots of time outdoors in it, supervising lunch recess at the school and taking the kids tobogganing and snowshoeing. I am comfortable at 40 below in it. It is also quite lightweight, and I am not too uncomfortable wearing it walking through the mall unzipped. It washes well.

One more vote for Lands End...got mine on sale at Sears 3 yrs ago when I lived in NYC and it was great there and still good today...washed a few times and I always throw a tennis ball in to wash with it first then the dryer :). Good luck!
