We have Columbia and NorthFace.
We've had LL Bean and Lands End.
I know the cuffs you are talking about and decided NOT to buy the coat/jacket because of it.
What is your favorite brand for snow coats? I've always liked Lands End, but now all their coats have "snow cuffs". The "trendy contraption" where your thumb and pointer finger are "separated" by material. The concept is great in theory, but my kids don't like it when wearing mittens, and it doesn't work to slide the whole hand thru the larger hole as it just makes it super tight on the wrist. Thus I'm looking for a new brand...LL Bean, Columbia, etc.?

North Face.
My daughter got one for Christmas and while it isn't a snow coat, it keeps her warmer than any snow coat we could find for her. Her snow coat is from Target. We will be replacing all of our coats to North Face in the future.
Honestly? I have stumbled upon some of the best coats in the most unlikely of places-Target, kohls, Marshalls, etc.
When he was a toddler, I liked children's place.
Latest coat was from a cool young men's store at the mall-forget the name but it's thick and soft.
I don't like super bulky coats and I don't know any kid that does! Lol
Warm yet thin enough to be comfy. Or my 11 year old won't wear them.
I also refuse to pay a super high price because of a name for a coat my kid will wear for 2-3 months....
My daughter has a Columbia jacket (after having a Lands End coat previously) that we found at Burlington Coat Factory for around $40. She told me it's so warm that she's always sweating when she comes in from recess!
Honestly, we bought a pricey Osh Kosh 3 in one coat for DD and I plan to go back to the Circo brand Target 3 in 1 coat when she outgrows it.
Another vote for Northface. Our whole family got Northface this year and have stayed warm and toasty.
Funny, my boys love that "snow cuff" feature. If they're wearing mittens, they just don't use it and have never complained of it being too tight. My son's coat is from LLBean this year, it's great but also has that snow cuff.
