I need a new Mamapedia name. I used to use my real name, then got to "know" a lot of you and I started posting some personal stuff about my marriage and my family. I have a unique name in a itty bitty town and I live in fear that someone I know is going to join and read all the complaining I do about my crazed family. Since I have no desire to be disowned or start the next family feud, I changed my Mamapedia name. I'm not creative and could thing of nothing fun or catchy. So, my name is LAME-O!!!!!
Help me! I know there are lots of you creative types out there.
How do you change your location? It asks for my zip code and then just puts it in for me :( I'd love for it just to be the state.
Sue--It's just so generic. There are several variations of this name on here, just with different spelling. I want something with a little pizzazz! :D
When you change your name, it changes it on all your posts and answers.
My theory here is that if I change my name and location then I'm just another face in the crowd, no matter who might be on here. If I'm my unique name from Small Town USA, then if someone that knows me were to log on here, not only would they know who I am, but also would know my entire family.
I like Mamapedia because it can be fairly anonymous. I don't have that with FB or Twitter. For me this website gives me a place to come and ask those questions I can't ask anyone else. It's also the place I can come to and vent with out anyone knowing the people involved in the story. That's why I want to remain as anonymous as possible.
I went with D. C. Mostly because I've always wanted to be a D. ;)
I changed mine too. I used to have my name and initial for but decided to also put my home town as my city. You can put in any zip code. The phone book has them listed for bigger towns.
what's wrong with "Momof2grlz"? Why change from this....or am I missing the point here? Are you really asking for a 3rd name?
Well, if you're really from Payne, OH, you could try House Of Payne?
How about "PrivateMom" and just put a bogus zip in when it asks you for the zip!

You should change your city too. If it's that small, they might recognize you just by the situations, not even your name. I looked at your profile to get an idea. I see you are an eco-friendly mom. You could go with something like that.

I have been playing with mine since your post and I have determined that you have to have a real zip code in, so I don't know if you can get it to just show your state. I would love that also. In addition you can only change your zip code 2x in 72 hours, so I am currently from Albany Canada. In addition it is real easy to send friend requests as I sent one to you. Don't feel that you have to accept or that someone new is stalking you either : ) As for names I don't know. My name means something to me, but would not give me away either or course now that I am living in Canada apparently I should be really safe from anyone discovering me...
I don't think Lame-O is the best name for you, no. Your location is indicated in your posts, so something more anonymous might work. What do you like to do for fun when you have time? If it's something a lot of people do, you could adapt that for a name and you'd be pretty anonymous.

You can look up another zipcode online and change your username on here. No problem!
Name suggestions: Is there a name that you always liked? Is there a famous actress that you admire? How about 1HotMama? or Raising'emright?
In the settings- edit it so your first name and last initial are the same as your online nickname, that's how mine is. Then put in what ever zip code you want. I use my normal one, I dont have family that uses this site, you can always use 90510 and be from Beverly Hills :)
For what it is worth, even if you change your name if someone has clicked on your name to view your profile or send you a PM, the link still has the 'followed' color.
So...for example let's say you click on me at M R. It goes from being dark blue to light blue. Then I change my screen name to ChicagoHotDog. Even though the name is new, the link still appears light blue as if you've followed it.
(I know, it sounds stalkerish but there are a few people with whom I have traded (sane, rational, complimentary) PMs in the past who have recently changed their screen name, so it still appears light blue)

However... if you really want to remain anonymous, then completely change your name so that when someone send you a private message, your name does not appear. I just did some investigating..... I clicked on where it says to send Momof2grlz a private message and when you do that.... up pops your real name. Which I won't type here... go and change that now for more privacy.

So do just that.
Then pick a name that only you would know.

you can change your location by changing the zip code to something else....
If you change your name, does it notify anyone who might be a mamapedia friend? Do they know you changed? Do your former posts change too, or stay with the name you had when you wrote them. Wouldnt that create a trail easy to follow who changed to who? I wonder this stuff too.
