My 11 month old is actually my second kid but I cannot remember when I drop to three bottle feeds a day. Right now I give him breast in the morning (around 5am). He usually goes back down. When he wakes I give him 1 jar of fruit and 1/4 cup of oatmeal with a TB of finger food. Then he get an 8oz. bottle of formula at 9 and takes a nap. When he wakes he gets lunch. 1 jar of food and cheese or meat for finger food. He get breast again at around 1pm. Then a small snack at 3pm. Dinner at 5pm (Jar and some meat) and an 8oz. bottle around 6:30pm with bed around 7:30pm. When do I drop to 3 bottles a day and how much food am I supposed to feed at that time. My son weighs 25lbs. now.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all so much for your advice. The sippy cup is not too popular but the cups with the straws are so I am going in that direction. I am also going to drop to three bottles a day.

If you are still breastfeeding, then you could probably start dropping bottle feedings one at a time. For instance instead of giving him a bottle at 9 am, you could offer him cereal, oatmeal, and a fruit. At lunch time, give him food first and then offer milk. Most of the time, they will be full if you provide food before the bottle. At night you could offer milk in a bottle, but after meal time. You want to make sure that he is not using the bottle to go to sleep.

I don't have an 11 month old, but I do know that Kellymom.com has the answers: http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/solids/solids-how.html#...

Do you plan to wean at a year? Or nurse beyond that?

For the first year, a baby's primary source of nutrition should be either formula or breast milk; solids are just practice. But the closer you get to a year, a formula fed baby will be receiving most of their nutrition from solids but a breast fed baby should still be receiving most of their nutrition from breast milk at this time.

An 11 month old should not still be on a bottle, he should be drinking out of a sipper cup, your child could be in danger of baby bottle tooth rot. I am 51 and a mother of three, my youngest is 18 my 3 were off the bottle at onw year old, but from 9 months to one year they had one bottle a day in the morning while I was getting their breakfast, the rest of day they were on baby food and a sipper cup. All I know is that my doctor said that 9-12 month old should only be getting 16 -20 oz of formula/bm a day. My daughter is 10 months and weighs 22 lbs. I give her 3 8 oz bottles and she usually only drinks like 20 oz. I think your schedule sounds pretty good. I thimk you are supposed to offer food before a bottle at this point. Maybe if you eliminated the 5 am feeding? Easier to say that t hando it. Goood Luck!

try giving him the sipper cup it has a small nipple that he may take to. then eventually give him a small cup and let him dirnk from that. if you don't start trying to get him off now it will be harder after 1 year old. as soon as he reaches 1 year give him reg whole milk it will make him full, but in a sipper cup. I think he is drinking to much bottle.

Because he is almost 1 year old you should drop him to maybe one a day starting now, especially if you are still breast feeding. I am one of those moms who takes the bottle away completely right at age 1.They don't NEED it anymore. good luck
