Hi there! My daughter is now 10 months old, and I am trying to figure out somewhat of a feeding schedule that "makes sense" :) Do you all have any suggestions/examples of a schedule that works for you? She is on baby food and formula still. We are exposing her to some table food (pureed and/or mushy little pieces) as well. I am just not sure how to space out the feeding and formula times. Any suggestions on amounts of food and formula would help, too. Thank you sooooooo much!

What can I do next?

I can not tell you how thankful I am for all of your responses! Being a first time mom has been such trial-and-error with feeding, and you all helped give me some more ideas. Thanks again for your help!

My daughter ate when I ate. Three times a day, then directly after she got her cup of milk/formula. For me a tall bottle fit into a handled sippy cup. I found out by mixing up a bottle and then pouring the formula into a cup. She would sip at it all day and once it was empty I would just fill it up again. Breakfast after she woke up (baby cereal, and fruit). Lunch around noon after first nap (veggies, bits of what I ate and fruit). Dinner around 6 after second nap (veggies, bit of my dinner and fruit). You can always start with half the veggies and half the fruit from the cups, he's old enough to push your hands away and squirm away from you once he's done. That's how I did it.

Good luck.

By this time, my daughter was eating pick-up & soft foods. She is very independent & didn't eat baby food for very long. She got 3 meals a day & a bottle of formula in between for a snack. Due to $, I was also mixing formula & milk until she was on milk excusively by 11 months. It was a strictly $ issue or she would have had formula until 12 mths. She also got juice in sippy cups anytime she wanted a drink.
Almost forgot, as for amounts it was still free choice. As much as she wanted.

with my son when he was that age, he was on finger foods mostly for lunch & dinner, but here's my schedule incase you want it..

630qm(or whenever she wakes up giver her 10-15 min to become alert). one infant bowl of oatmeal cereal & 4oz of formaula to wash it down.
9am-a delmonte fruit cup(chopped up in a blender to get the chunks smaller).flavored water
12p-lunch usually green beans(his fav.), carrots or peas, and very finely minced chicken/ham/turkey..some type of meat.4-6oz formula
napped right after lunch until about 230-300, then had another snack like bananas for potassium & flavored water.
he ate supper about 5pm 4 -6oz formula & usually had a chopped up version of whatever i made for everyone else..minus any spices that would hurt his belly. then he was in bed at 6 & down until the next morning.i think he loved eating as much as he did sleeping when he was a baby..lol. now he's 5 yrs old and is pretty much on the same schedule only bedtime is at 730 now.

K.,
I have an 11 month old and she is eating the same foods your daughter is eating. This is basically her schedule.
8-8:30am- up and has an 8oz bottle- I put an ounce of prunes in her bottle every morning.
10am- morning nap
12:00- eats 4oz of veggies and 4 oz of fruit (we offer sippy cup and she is cathing on pretty good).
3pm-afternoon nap (8oz bottle right before her nap)
6pm-4oz veggies and 4oz fruit (sippy cup)-we are offering her table food if we are eating something we can cut into little pieces to feed her. She likes rice, mac'n cheese, mashed potatoes and soft foods like that.
8:30pm- we give her 8oz bottle or 4oz of cereal/oatmeal before bed.
If she is really tired she will NOT take anything but a bottle. She also snacks on banana or peach puffs throughout the day. She is not a meat eater, she spits it out (even I think the meat baby food smells bad, so it must taste bad to her).

Hope this helps,
R.'

At 10 months our child was on a typical breakfast/lunch/dinner schedule:

6:00 - 7:00 breakfast - 6 oz formula + 1 jar stage 3 oatmeal

11:00 - 11:30 lunch - 6 oz formula + 1 jar stage 3 veggies

4:15 - 4:45 dinner - 6 oz formula + 1 jar stage 3 veggies

6:30 bedtime - 6 oz formula

As you incorporate more finger foods, just decrease the amount of baby food you feed or eliminate it all together.

Just remember all babies are different and have varying nutritional needs. Watch her cues and consult with your pediatrician.

If you're interested in getting the whole sippy cup thing rolling, put a sippy cup with water or formula on the tray at meal times to get her accustomed to it. She might just look at it, play with it, take a swig or two, but it will get her used to it being there. It could possibly make the transition easier whenever the two of you are ready. (thanks to my good friend for this suggestion that worked really, really well!)
