Hi M. - I would try Vanicream, you can get it behind the pharmacist counter at Target. It is $16.00 a 1 lb jar. It was created by the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn for people with sensitive, dry skin. Good luck!
This week I will be 34 weeks pregnant. And like most woman I have started leaking milk. Not a massive amount or anything, just little bits. I was wondering if any other moms have had the problem where the nipples start to itch very badly and tingle every now and then? Also in this last month my belly has started to itch as well. I am also wondering how to handle this cause it is quite irritating and I live in a house full of men so I can't really be scratching myself. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

M.,
You might have dry skin, I'd try the Lansinoh cream on your nipples and see if that helps at all. My belly itched like crazy with my first baby, and using a lot of lotion did help. I like the Eucerine (sp?) Calming Cream.
Good luck!

I suggest some lotion. What is happening is you are stretching out, more then you are normally and when it happens it itches. It will stop once you stop growing. Until then, just keep using lotion or whatever feels the best. I know there is a cream out there, called something with Udder in it (yep like what a cow has, the bottle is black and white spotted). I hear it works wonders with stretching. Good Luck and Congrats.
I started getting drier skin and as it streches becomes itchy. I started using the lanolin cream before my son was born. And make sure you change nursing pads often so you don't become sore.
M.,
Each time I was pregnant I got a rash all over. It ran through my blood stream and got worse with itching. I used a every thing out there the one I got the most was the oatmeal anti-itch cream it starts with a A it in a tan and blue bottle. I hope you just have dry skin.
I am only 15 weeks Preg, and I've had itchy boobs/nipples since about 6 weeks. Terrible itching and when I scratch, the relief is almost orgasmic. But, yes...I think it's normal. Creams can help and there are some that are designed specifically for the boob/tummy area, but I'm not sure what those are. But, I think any cream will help. I've also heard that leaking is possible prior to delivery.
I just wanted to say that the body butter that Emily H referred to is AWESOME! I think you can get it online if you are not near a Body Shop. Congrats on your growing family!
Your nipples probably itch due to dry skin. The best, and most natural thing for them is to rub your leaked milk over them. If that doesn't work, get some lanolin (again, pretty natural and recommended when breastfeeding). Also, when you wash in the shower, only wash your breasts with water, avoid body wash and soap on them as that will dry them out. Your nipples tingle because they are producing and leaking milk. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about that.
Your stomach itches because your skin is streatching. Moisturize the heck out of your stomach and that should help!
Just like others said, it is probably dry skin. With the weather so yucky this winter and just the fact that your skin is stretching for baby, it does get dry.
I LOVED the Body Shop Cocoa Butter body butter. It was heaven! I had little if any stretch marks too. I hope you have "The Body Shop" in your local mall, if not you can order online.
My daughter, 5, also has dry skin with patches of eczema. We even use this on her and it worked!
Hi M.,
Now-a-days there are fewer nursing moms out there. I nursed my 3 children and the same happened to me with all 3. There's an old belief that infants/toddlers can pull your milk down. In other words, your 22-mo-old may be causing your milk to flow when she wants to eat or drink. It was a normal thing for me. I owned several nursing bras, plenty of pads to wear in them and changed them when necessary.
My dr. said the itching was nothing serious or unusual. It may be best to relay that info to your dr. It may or may not be the same for you.
In my case, I'd changed my nursing pads regularly, and kept my breasts and stomach clean using a white cloth and mild, hypoallergenic soap. I also used cocoa butter or eucerin creams on my stomach. Doing this certainly helped me.
I am a mother of 3 and grandmother of 5. I pray that you are experiencing nothing abnormal; Also, that you will have a healthy and happy new addition to your family. Take care and God bless.
I know exactly how you feel! I am due May 28th and I have started leaking and itching. Like you said...it's not a lot but I was hugging my 5 year old before he went into class and a little came out...he went in his class and told them that he popped me. LOL...
Yes, mine itch a lot, too! My stretchmarks also itch. But at this point I just am glad that I haven't got any new ones! This may sound funny, but I used utter cream! It really seems to be helping! I get made fun of for using it, but it has stopped the itching! I figure if it works on cows it will work for me!
Hi M... all are good suggestions.. the udder balm works well, vitamin E, and lanolin are all very good to use and won't cause any problems even after the baby is born!.. if you are having a problem with leaking try using a panty liner cut in half in your bra to absorb the moisture and protect your nipples (they aren't as big as the nursing pads..so no showing thru your clothes & the moisture can cause nipples to become cracked and sore)..Hope it helps and good luck to all of you.
