I'm looking for people who have used either of these methods and can provide any advice as to which is better? Also, can anyone in the DFW area give a recommendation of an instructor in the area?

What can I do next?

They are NOT the same thing (as previous poster says!). I researched both thoroughly and decided from everything I read that Hypnobabies was way more thorough. You can actually use Hypnobabies for everything (reducing stress, helping you sleep, inducing labor, etc.) It's relally cool how it works. I used Bradley with my first and it was a joke to me - did NOTHING helpful but Hypnobabies with my second was the BEST ever!! I HIGHLY recommend it!! I just did the home study course. If this is your first you may want to take a class with an instructor (Kathy O'Brian is REALLY good and she's a hypnodoula meaning she will come with you to the birth as well if you'd like). I have a used home Hypnobabies course if you are interested in that route - it is 1.5 years old so pretty new and used once - I am done after two :) Or if you have other questions or want Kathy's info. I can find that for you as well so feel free to email me. I LOVE that you're researching this and hope you have an awesome birthing experience!!

I used hypnobabies with my son...you can search for my story that I posted answering a similar question (I did it so I could get to the hospital an hour away and never quite believed I'd have a med free birth...) It was AWESOME. I used the Hypnobabies home study (which, unfortunately, I lost in our move...I was looking for it for the other poster...BUMMER). But I will say, if I ever get prego again, I'll certainly use it. Dh wasn't involved with it at all...he was supportive...but I preferred not having someone talking or messing with me. Check out the Hypnobabies website...or PM me...I'd be happy to tell you all about my awesome L&D! (Now...that said, I also had an awesome L&D with an epidural on board with DD 2 1/2 years before that, so maybe I'm just lucky...or maybe I'm just crazy! LOL)

I've never used either but I have a friend who used hypnobabies and the recorded the birth and it was amazing how great she did. She was 110 lbs pregnant and had a 13 lb baby. I was convinced it worked! Good luck!

I think that hypnobirth and hypnobabies are just the same thing--moms say that babies born using the hypobirth laboring techniques hypnobabies. I did not find out about hypnobirth until after my son was born, or otherwise I would've tried to use it.

There is a list of hypnobirth practioners on their webite at http://www.hypnobirthing.com/texas.htm
