My son just colored on our nice office desk with permanent Sharpie brand markers. Silver. Anyone know how to get this out? My husband will be home in an hour! Ah!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Ok - so as soon as I posted this, I grabbed a Mr. Clean sponge ran into the office. It came out! Thank goodness - because as soon as I started trying to clean it, I heard the garage door open! :-) Granted, it's a little dull where I cleaned it - but better than silver sharpie!

Thank you for your responses - I will definitely remember the toothpaste in the future! And Solumel - I didn't even think of that - and we have it!

We had a Meleleuka demonstration, and permanent marker came right off.Look on-line for a dealer in your area.

If you have any on hand, you can try hair spray. I've used it on various things, and it usually gets the permanent marker off.

Shaving cream is supposed to work as well.

Toothpaste should do the trick. It will leave the desk a little dull so you will need to use a furniture polish afterwards.

Toothpaste and a toothbrush or a soft rag is the answer. And yes, it really works.

[edit] StepsUse white paste, not the gel kind, and simply put a small amount directly onto the wood furniture. With either a soft bristle toothbrush or a soft rag, start making circular motions and rubbing the paste into the marker.
Be patient. You may have to do several applications before the marker is completely removed.
When the paste has basically taken on the color of the marker, wipe clean and then start with step 1 again.
