How to Remove a Breast Milk Stain ?

I had just taken a shower and put on a new cotten/spandex dress ( only from Target, but still cute) and began nursing my daughter...she had an explosive vomit, and christened my dress...it's a solid lavendar color, so I can't bleach it...I just washed it in Charlie's Detergent, and when I removed it from the dryer, the stains were evident all across the front. Does anyone know of anything I can try to get the breast milk stains out ? Not the end of the world, since it's not an expensive dress, but it's cute and comfy, and perfect for breast feeding. Thanks for any help you can give mer.

oxyclean? make a paste out of it and let it sit on the stain for awhile. I never had a problem w/ breastmilk staining though so I'm not sure if it will work but its worth a shot.

I've heard the sun is a natural stain remover. Put some vinegar on it and set it in the sun for a while and see if that works. I don't know how long it's supposed to take. My cousin claims it takes pretty bad stains out of cloth diapers even after the diapers have been dried in the dryer. Good luck! I know it is such a disappointment to finally find clothes you like and then they get ruined. : (

I agree, try OxyClean powder. Dissolve some in big bowl or a bucket and then let the dress sit in it for a day or two. When my son was a baby, I'd have an orange Home Depot pail with water and dissolved oxyclean in the laundry room to throw his clothes into after big blowouts and it never failed to get those stains out, I'd have to think it would work on breast milk.

As long as you didn't dry it there is lots of hope. If you did in my experience lots of soaking in a pretty good stain remover might... and that is a big fat might get it out.

I used cloth diapers, and breastmilk is another organic stain, and used Green Cleaner to get the stains out. I would put the concentrate on the stain and scrub it with a tooth brush. Then I'd let it sit for about ten mins and rinse if it wasn't completely out and that was rare I'd soak according to directions on the bottle. If that didn't work I'd wash it and try a different stain remover like Goop for example to see if it would work. There are lots of stain removers out there. You can start with a commercial one, or an oxy one and then go for the hardcore ones. In my experience everything can be gotten out it just might take alot of soaking. oh and trial and error.

Try Shout or an enzymatic cleaner, like OxyClean. Since it's an enzyme stain, OxyClean might work really well.

I liked Charlie's soap with my top loader, but not my front loader. I had the exact same problem, then switched to Tide. Not as green, but I've had better luck.

I use a stain stick that's Resolve brand (used to be Spray n' Wash with Resolve). The container looks like deodorant. Works really well, and I have a 11 mo. old and 2 1/2 year old:)
