Okay, my 2 month old has blow outs all the time no matter what kind of diapers and what size of diapers. I try to hand wash his clothes, soak them in oxyclean, etc, but just can't seem to get the yellow stain out, even if I am right on top of the soiled clothes and never let them dry.
Any of you have a solution? Any products that work better on yellow poop than oxyclean? Thanks for the help!
Yes, my baby is breastfed...and maybe a big part of it is that we have VERY hard water? Cause this didn't happen with my first child.. his blowouts came out fine in soft water. Maybe that was the difference?? I'm doing the same things this time around and they are not working.
All of the ideas you are sending in are GREAT!! I'm going to try them!! THANK YOU!

Hang them out in the sun for at least a day when it is really sunny and I can almost guarantee the stains will be gone completly--NO WORK--just hang em up. I have cloth diapered my kids from birth and their diapers are white as can be I don't use bleach or anything else. I wish more moms knew about this 150 year old trick--we need more grandmas to mentor moms to let us know about these things.

I second the person that suggested the sun. I use cloth diapers and I line dry them after washing. Any poop stains that were on the diapers beforehand are gone by the time they've dried in the sun.

The sun works every time! I would rinse off the clothes then put them out in the sun (where the sun was directly on the stain). Once they were dry, the stain was gone them I would wash like normal.
Good luck!

Hi N.!
For getting out stains, I recommend washing as you normally do, and then laying the stained items out in the sun to dry. The sun is like a natural bleach- zapping the stains out.
I also recommend Shaklee's laundry products, they are safe for those with sensitive skin, but tough on stains, dirt and grime. The products are naturally based, that actually work. Safe for your kids (no bleach for them to get into!), safe for the planet, and better for your wallet. Their products are really concentrated and so you use a lot less. If you want to find out more, go to http://www.shaklee.net/startahealthylife/product/GetClean... We have used their laundry products for 2 years now and have no issues with stains- not even on my daughters cloth diapers (and I use 1/4 of the amount of laundry powder on her diapers- this stuff works!)
Also, since you have 2 in diapers, have you considered using cloth diapers? If you went with the bumGenius! One-Size diapers, you could have both of your babies in the same diaper- just adjust the snaps (so easy!) for a different size. You will save a ton of money (you could spend about $500 and be set- compare that to over $2000 for EACH child to have them is disposables). I have had people tell me that have used both cloth and disposables that cloth contains what would otherwise be a blowout in disposables. To learn more and see the diapers I am talking about, go to http://www.naturalchoices4baby.com/catalog.php?category=3 and if you have any questions, please let me know. We have used the bumGenius! on my daughter (17 months) since birth and they are so wonderful. I think that these diapers are great, and you can't beat the investment and money saved.
Good luck with your stains! The coolest thing is that the best thing to remove those stains is absolutely free!

My daughter had blow outs pretty much daily when she was teething. What I found worked really well was not "soaking" them in the oxyclean, but instead, rinsing them out and while they were wet, lay them on a flat surface. Sprinkle the oxy clean over the top and then use a spray bottle to wet the oxyclean, too. Leave it sit all day/over night and then wash in the regular wash. I tried soaking in oxyclean and it never worked. Good luck!

My mom always used dish soap. I found that if you have regular dish soap without the antibacterial ingrediants, that works better.
I also used 1/4 cup bleach in the water and double rinsed them. Even with the colors. It seemed to work well with the dish soap, too. Good luck!!!

My baby also has blowouts daily!!! I have found that Spray n'Wash, the grean bottle. It's a big aerosol type can. It takes the yellow stains out everytime. She has left HUGE yellow circles on her cutest outfits and they have always come out. A few of her onesies that are white seem to have a hint of the yellow though but the "clorox bleach pen" brings that right out. Good luck!!

I hate to tell you that I've never been able to get rid of poop stains. I ended up just throwing the clothes away. Have him wear a onesie at all times. Hopefully, the onesie will get most of the damage instead of the other clothes. How often is all of the time? Are his poops explosive? It might be something he's (you're) eating. Blow-outs are pretty gross! I feel for ya! I'm sure we all have some doozy stories.

"Zout" came highly recommended by friends who'd been through the "yellow poop" stage before I headed into it. That said, I've found that drying clothes in the sun takes care of anything left. Just ferry them right from the washer (make sure you wash with cold water) to a clothesline or something like it outside. Leave them out there for a few hours and the sun should bleach any leftover stains right out.

The powdered oxyclean works if you have a basin and soak. Hot water stir oxyclean in until there are no granules then add the clothes. It worked with both of my kids, even if I didn't soak the article of clothing right away. Hope this helps. . .

I have noticed with my colors (we have a 15 month old and so we are still dealing with the stains) clorox2 it is a bleach for colors and if you soak you colors in that like you would your whites in bleach, I have had great success with our clothes. hope that works for you too! (also if you are using baby detergent it might not hurt to wash the clothes twice in it to make it baby soft again)

It is an amazing staining substance isn't it. I have found that you have to get dirty with it. First I spray off as much of the thick'n'sticky stuff, with colf water and the spray nossil at my kitchen sink, then I cover it with dish soap, and scrub with my nails. Even if it doesn't come out all the way I toss t in a load right away, which often finishes the job, but if not I repeat the scrubbing. Now that I am on my 4th daughter, while some clothes are sentimental to me, if it's not really cute or sprcail I just toss it. I've found that even though I'm stocked on girl clothes every time I am pg I end up finding more cute clothes I can't pass up, and my sisters and the grandparents do to, consider the value of the clothes vrs. the value of your time:)

Some of my daughter's clothes are stained like that. What seemed to work best was rubbing in liquid dish soap and letting it sit. Then spray with stain remover before washing. And if you are positive the stain came out, throw it in the dryer, if not, air dry because the heat from the dryer sets the stain.
This worked on almost everything, but it seemed that cotton knit onsies were the worst and didn't really come out, but it faded.

I used Totally Toddler spray on EVERYTHING (including the cloth diapers) having to do with my son and stains until last December. I was able to get all of the stains out, all the way out, with the stuff.
Spray it on (like Spray n Wash), let it sit for at least 20 mins (I left it for days with no problem), throw it in the wash just the way you always do.
I do also use Tide powder for detergent, so I don't know if it's the two together that did the trick, but there's not a single thing that my son wore from newborn that has had a stain on it with this stuff.
You can get it at Babies R Us. KMart also had it, but I don't usually go there, so I'm not sure if they still do.

One thing that worked for me as I had son with the same problem was a product called Mothers Miracle at Babies R Us, you may even find it on the internet. I would soak the clothes with the spray and let it sit then wash in hot soapy water. 90% of the time it worked, on the other times it didn't I threw the clothes away. Bad I know but I started buying the cheap bulk onsies so if I had to throw it away it wasn't a nice outfit. Being still warm out you can leave him in these too. I would also consider finding a better diaper.
I found Targets brand of diapers in a size larger then my son was in was a life saver!! SERIOUSLY! Sams brand a size bigger was great too.

I had to laugh, because my hubby and I also call them BLOW OUTS!
Up the back to the shoulders all the way down to the bottom of the heels and looks like mustard colored sludge!
I have heard it is only in breastfed babies, so those who mention that it might be a dairy allergy or whatever must not have them.
I had them with TWINS at the same time- and now my baby (she has outgrown it now, as it stops eventually!)
HOWEVER- boy do I wish I had had this post to read! I would have had a lot more clothes to sell to the local children's resale shop! (2nd hand clothes, but won;t take them with ANY hint of a stain!)
LOL! thanks for the reminder!

The Spray-N-Wash stick. Wash it with soap first (Dawn dish detergent is awesome). Then apply stick and scrub and rinse out. Then apply stick again, scrub, and hang to dry until do laundry. If you are like me I only do laundry every 10-14 days, so I don't want the stained clothes to sit very long. The stick allows it to come out even after it's dried on and it won't damage the clothes. I breastfeed too, so I totally know what you mean, and I've tried everything else and this is what works for me!

I use the Amway SA8 products, the pretreatment and the detergent. I would soak my daughters clothes in Biz until I was ready to do laundry (sometimes a day or more) Just put it in the bucket when I took the clothes off her. Then right before I put them in the washer I would pre-treat and wash as normal. After I figured this out I don't think I ever had a poop stain not come out. It even took some old ones out.

Is your baby breastfed? If so I have had several of those blow outs with our now 9month old. The best diapers I found were the Pampers Swaddlers, the ones in the yellow package. At least with our DD it seemed to just suck the poop right into it and she wouldn't blow out. As far as the stains, I use Spray N Wash and seem to get them out just fine.

I use oxyclean and it has always worked for me, but instead of soaking the clothes in it, here's what i do. Usually I wash it once just so I don't have to deal with the poop, but then:
-get the stained area wet,
-sprinkle the oxyclean powder over it so it is completely covered,
-then w/a spray bottle spray water over the oxyclean so it is totally wet.
-Keep spraying it throughout the day or until stain is gone.
I figure this gives it a high concentrated power boost (I don't know). :) Sometimes I forget about the clothes and spray it again a couple days later. As long as the powder is wet it will work it's magic into the clothes. I guess just make sure you don't keep it wet for too long or it might fade your clothes - though I've never had that happen. Some stains take a little longer to come out than others, but I've always been able to get them out. I think some had even been in the dryer, but it still worked.
Good luck and I hope this works!!!

Personally, I have never found Oxyclean to work very well on much of anything. For my kids' yellow poop stains, I always used the shout squeeze bottle with the scrubber thing on the top (sorry, that's not the most articulate description). I would rub it in really well before washing it, then always check before putting the item in the dryer to make sure it came all the way out. A lot of times it worked fine the first time, but occasionally I would have to treat it again and wash it a second time (all before drying). If you dry it before washing it again, chances of getting it out at all are pretty slim. I also use spray 'n wash with Resolve power, and the clorox bleach pen on white stuff. Hope that helps. Good luck.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but Dawn Direct Foam has worked wonders for me. My daughter had blowouts quite a bit before she was on solid foods, and that is the only thing I've found to get the stain out. Even white onesies look like nothing has happened to them. And you don't have to wash it out immediately either. I've washed poop out from earlier in the day, that has dried, and there is no stain.
Good luck!

My son did also and I have no great advice for the stains but I would check him for a dairy allergy. I know another mother posted about this and everyone responded about a dairy issue. We did not find out about my son's dairy intolerance till he was 18 months, then not from a dr but a family friend. So we tried dairy free on his suggestion and it made a ton of difference(sleep, diapers, puffiness under his eyes.

I have a cleaner called quick n brite and it is amazing. I had a friend recommend it. The only downfall is it is only available online. You can either go to www.quicknbrite.com or google search it and it will tell you other places to order it. My baby had a major blowout on Saturday and we were at a park so I didn't get to wash his clothes right away and then I kind of forgot about them and waited until like 2 days later before washing them and the quick n brite took the stains right out. It is safe to let it sit on the clothes overnight or you can wash right away. It takes out chocolate milk, spit up stains, all kinds of stuff. Also I've heard baby oxiclean is great. I haven't tried it yet, but the only place I've been able to find it is Toys R' Us. I would assume you can get it at Babies R' Us, but we don't have one close to where we live, so I'm not sure. Hope that helps. Good luck.

Hello N., I have found that just straight Peroxide works really great at getting any stains out of my daughters clothing. I haven't had the chance to use it on yellow stains because she's almost 2 now, but she is quite the tom-boy and very messy, so her clothes are always getting VERY VERY dirty. The bonus is it's really cheap and it's non-toxic. Maybe you can try it out and see if it helps.
