We use Aquaphor or Eucerin. Those work real good. Now Johnson & Johnson has a new product called a lotion balm looks almost like an extra large tube of chapstick but is used for dry area like, elbows, knees, cheeks, etc.
what is something I can put on my child's face to prevent it from getting wind chapped when we go snow skiing?
ok..I am waiting on a free sample of the aquaphor. other than that I will try sunsreen. he won't be out that much.I will need it probably more than him!

I would stick to vaseline for a 2 yr old....A&D and lip balm and some of the others mentioned would work well, but a 2 yr old won't be able to refrain from touching, smudging, rubbing his face all day and you don't want to risk anything getting in his eyes that might sting!
I love vitamin e! It doesn't wear off as easily as petroleum jelly and gives me a little glow, too. Just poke a hole in the capsule and squeeze out the oil. If you're gonna wear a full face of make-up, too, then apply it a little early, giving it time to soak in good. Then, steam your face with a hot towel. That'll open your pores and remove the excess. Apply your sunscreen moisturizer and your make-up. Your face will feel awesome!
Have fun!
A&D diaper ointment... (ya know, this one: http://www.drugstore.com/qxp13119_333181_sespider/ad/orig...)
Besides diaper uses, its "Heals Dry, Chafed Skin" and "Protects and Soothes Minor Cuts and Burns"... Just rub a little film over his facial skin.
ooo, here's a link to Ohio State Medical Center's instructions on using A&D for burn/gauze dressings... http://medicalcenter.osu.edu/pdfs/PatientEd/Materials/PDF...
Believe it or not, simply sunblock will work.
We use aquaphor and it works great!
Miracle Salve? - Beeyoutiful.com
Emu oil or Emu lotion works great and should have no parabens in it. It has many benifical uses for skin; Google it and check it out.
Blessings,

It may sound strange but Bag Balm does wonders for dry, chapped skin. I have used it once already so chapped that my face was cracking and bleeding. It did not sting but was a little gooey at first. Gently rubbing it in, over night I felt soooo much better. It just took a few days to get my face back. I'm not sure how it does as a preventative measure but if your little one's face is in need of gentle repair, give this a shot. It is found in a square green tin and yes, it was originally for dry, cracked animal utters but you can find it at Wal-greens and CVS. Have fun skiing!
Things to remember when going from sea level to high altitude is:
1. give yourself time to adjust to the change in altitude (this includes the kids).
2. drink lots of water (soda, beer, etc. don't count).
3. wear sunscreen! even if it's cloudy. sun is stronger the higher up you are and sometimes, what seems like windburn is really a sunburn.
4. you can buy a cap with a face protector. in reality, if he will be skiing, he should be in a helmet (everyone should be).
if he gets actual windburn, ease back into a hot environment. don't put very hot water on it. let it reach room temp first. use a mild lotion on it. you need to make sure it's a windburn not a sunburn before you put oily stuff on his face. before going out, maybe use a waterproof sunscreen for babies to block the wind as well. if he will be skiing (most resorts only teach 3 and older), he should wear goggles which will cover most of his face. aloe vera gel is also very soothing.
good luck and enjoy your trip!
It may sound strange, but I just put chap stick on my daughter's cheeks. We use Bert's Bees Wax, but I think any chap stick would work. Good Luck.
I have to second the Aquaphor. It works wonders.
Just like you put chap stick on your lips there are products that can go on skin even if you put a small amount of lotion on.Have fun and be careful.
Body glide. It's made for runner's to prevent chaffing but it works great to prevent windburn. You can get it at Academy or any other athletic supply store. Oh, and it's not near as goopy as Vaseline.
gobs and gobs of vaseline. i'm a veteran of many a new england and canadian winter
Vaseline works very well :)
