I download minecraft for my 8 year old son on my ipad....But now after speaking further with the friends he learned about it from has discovered he needs the XBOX or computer version to get everything it has to offer. Is this true? And do I buy this to download at GameStop or just online. If I download will I get a computer virus or encounter problems......Just don't know nothing about this game. Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Xbox Market Place games section has Minecraft for download. It is completely safe.

Two of mine have it, one just plays the free version, we have it on the computer. I haven't bothered with the other ones cause they are a slimmed down version of the real game.

We have had it for about 2 year now, no virus and no problems with the downloads.

My 16 year old son plays it on the computer. Or get the Xbox version. He said the Ipad/Iphone version are limited. You know this is an online game?

Minecraft is completely safe.

What you have on the iPad, is what's called Minecraft Lite. It's a cut down version of the game, and it's true, it doesn't have all the shinies.

We all have it on PC, and then on the xbox for my 4 year old. It's very easy to learn with the controllers, and the build tutorials are really helpful. With the PC version, you start wandering into addon territory, and while 90% of them are perfectly safe, occasionally there's a wildcard. Honestly, I'd go with the xbox version, you don't even need to have an active Live account to play it. Though it still doesn't have even half the stuff the PC version has, it's still fun to play.

Also, if you do go with the PC version, the payment center Mojang uses tends to trip up your fraud alerts, and make banks and credit card companies freak out. Only because it comes from a place in London though. Not because it's fraudulent.
