I know you already have several responses, but I'm going to add one more: Debrox earwax removal kit; it's under $10 and it works very well.

This has worked for me, a cap full of peroxcide in your ear...tilt head then you will hear a pop.

When my daughter was young she got constant ear infections. At 4 she had her tonsils and adenoids out because the dr said it would help. It didnt. Then one time I was visiting out of town and she got a bad earache. I took her to the local ER and the dr there said it was wax build up. She said to put liquid detergent in the ear and leave it for several minutes then rinse it out. She also told me to be sure I got shampoo suds in the ear every time I washed her hair and to use detergent when she felt the least bit of discomfort. I listened to that advice and my daughter never got another ear infection. My 5 boys that came after her never had an ear infection either.

I have heard suggested: chiropractors, acupuncture and herbs to address ear issues. I have not used any of the above for ear infections, but for other things to good success. GOod luck.

Hi S.,

If you go to your local health food store you can get an ear candle...they are super easy to use and VERY effective! If you are tired of antibiotics or other med's this is the way to go!

Hope this helps!

p.s.- you can google it too if you dont know what it is ;)

Hi, Silva.

I am so sorry that you have not been feeling well. You may want to try some hot tea with lemon. It works wonders at helping to drain clogged ears.

Feel better.

S.,

If your ear is still feeling clogged, after taking the medication, I would recommend that you go back to your doctor. You may have a wax build-up deep in your ear canal from the infection. If so, the doctor will have to flush your ear with a saline solution to get it out of there.

I had that happen with the one and only ear infection that I ever had, and the wax was so built up down deep in my ear canal that it actually caused my eardrum to perforate. I never had anything hurt so much!

My husband has also gotten a wax build-up, deep in his ear canal, several times, that had to be flushed out, due to his having a sinus infection, so its possible that that may be why your ear is still feeling clogged. I would definitely return to your doctor to have it checked out!

Tilt your head and pour a small amount of Hydrogen peroxide in. Rub the bottom of your ear so it goes into the ear canal. You will hear crackling which is the peroxide working. It works for me EVERY time.

Hi S.,
Make sure that the decongestant contains an antihistimine. It can take up to a couple of weeks for optimal results. Good luck!

Omg....I feel your pain! I suffer from environmental allergies and not a day goes by that I don't sniffle, snort or wheeze! I had the same thing happen to me, and after months of the annoyance the clogged ear caused, I finally went to the doctor! It turned out to be a large hunk of ear wax (gross)that had to be irrigated out. They basically flush your ear with warm water over a bowl until it loosens or dislodges. You can actually do it at home if you have a syringe large enough but be careful not to insert it too far...just go the opening of the canal and carefully plunge the warm water through. Instant relief when it dislodges! Good luck!

I've had experiemce with bad allergies/ sinus issues where my ear feels "clogged". In fact, I never knew I even had allergies, but apparently that is one of the symptoms. My doctor prescribed Nasonex (a nose spray) to be taken for 2 weeks, and at the first sign of symptoms thereafter. I was skeptical, and didn't think a nose spray would address ear issues, but it is THE only thing that worked for me.

Hi S., A few drops of Peroxide may help. It will fizzle and hoprfully break up the clog. You must dry it out. Hold your head from side to side or dab with a Q-tip..carefully. Your ear may feel clogged with swelling from the infection. It may take some time to go down. Hope you feel better soon. Mommies get cranky when they are not well. My best, Grandma Mary

I would purchase a product called AYR...IT is a nasal rinse that shoots up your nose--does not burn as long as you follow directions. Purchase distilled water with it.
This will help flush out your ear asap. If you are running low on energy do this as well early in the a.m. IT is great product. If you are still having issues. I would have someone do some ear candling. They take a cone in your ear and let the other part burn the smoke sucks out everything in your ear; wax, dirt, etc. I think you should stop the decongestants. Also increase your water as much as possible and or maybe some gatorade.

Michele G's advice is what I was going to say. Saturate a cotton ball with peroxide, squeeze it into the ear and leave it that way for a few minutes. When you tilt your head in the opposite direction, use a cotton swab to clear away whatever drips. Don't dig into the ear conal.

You may also find that the wax loosens up after a hot shower. Use a dry cotton swab while the ear is still damp, and you'll remove a little more. Keep taking the other medications you mentioned, especially the antibiotics. It will take time.
