I put mine in the crock pot on low all day
I read here on MP about momma's simmering water with orange peels, cinnamon sticks and vanilla bean sticks to make their houses smell good (and I hope, to also act as a homade vaporizor!). Well, of course today when I decided to try it, my nose went out. Completely clogged yet running like crazy at the same time. I can't smell or taste anything! My house could smell like garbage, the baby's diaper, or wet dog and I wouldn't be able to tell.
So, I have been off and on boiling and simmering my little concoction on the stove but have no idea how long you can boil/reboil and still reap the nice smelling benefits! Do you?
Hahaha! No allergies, just a coincidental sickness.

Did you get clogged before or after you started this simmering? I am asking because in addition to being allergic to many chemicals, orange oil clogs me up and gets my nose to running. That really bites because I love the smell. Sometimes I just grab my nasal spray and do it anyway. I'm so limited in what I can do for smells.
I simmer any Oranges, apples, etc that are going bad and need pitched because they won't be used. I add some cloves and cinnamon. People rave about it!
I love the simmers I use. I only use them for 1-2 days then start over.
Did you know that boiling: Oranges, apples, lemons, cinnamon sticks, are also a cold remedy. Make sure you clean the oranges, apples and lemons, slice them and add them to water with cinnamon sticks, bring to a full boil and add honey for natural sweet flavor. Best natural vitamin C around.
what an excellent idea!!!
thanks missouri mk! :)
