I may be moving to Oswego the winter. I would like to know how long it takes you, or your husband, to get to work in Chicago. Im not sure if he will be actually officing out of Chicago or home, but he will making trips in several times a week. Also, we dont have a rail system here yet, so Im a little clueless on how that works. Do you use the train or drive? Any info or helpfull tips is appreciated.

Thanks Mommies,
T.

We live in Plainfield, not too far from Oswego. My husband drives into the River North area everyday. It takes him about an hour and 20 minutes on average. If he leaves very early it can take 50 min on the low side although there have been times when it has taken him 2-3 hours.

Hi T.,
I believe I had responded to your previous post about Oswego. I do live here and highly recommended it to you. However, I do not know anyone who commutes to Chicago...not to say there aren't. I grew up in Chicago and had to attend a funeral there last week and I thought I was going to pull my hair out getting there! Do your homework about Oswego's location. We are roughly 50 miles from actual downtown Chicago and we are 20-30 minutes from any expressway entrance...depending where in Oswego you live and traffic. Check a news channel site like nbc5.com for more traffic info. There is a train that leaves from Aurora and Oswego offers a park and ride to downtown Aurora as parking there can be tough. That is the BNSF rail line. Good luck! S.

There is a train station is Aurora and Rt. 59 in Aurora/Naperville depending on which side of the tracks you park on. I have a friend that lives in Oswego and gets on in Aurora. If you want more information here is Metra's webstie, it will give you cost and schedules. Good Luck.

I live in Yorkville and used to work in Chicago with my husband. We both took the train from the Aurora train station (he still does). Check out the Metra website that Theresa K. has posted. They do have express trains that make only a few stops and can get you to Chicago in about 50-55 minutes. There is a $2 parking fee.
