How Long Back in Pull-Ups?

I had to finally give-in & put my 3-year old daughter in Pull-Ups. She never wore Pull-Ups before, but she started having accidents mid-February. At first, it was just a few, then it became more often, then just last week she has literally just peed through her clothes. I know it's just a phase, but I never thought I'd be going backward. Has anyone else gone through this? How long do I have to do Pull-Ups now? It's really frustrating!

What can I do next?

M.,

I suggest going to see your doctor. I finally took my 5 year-old in yesterday because of the many accidents and he now has me on a regiment of laxatives and a double voiding potty trips. Basically, I take my daughter to the restroom, have her pee, wait two minutes then try again, so her bowel is totally empty. The laxatives are to get everything moving, so she can't hold anything in. What he thinks happened is that she got constipated, it hurt, so she started holding it. In turn the accidents started happening. Now we have to retrain her bowl floor. Good Luck!

When my girl was about 3-4 years old, she had a few accidents too. But, this was at times when there was a change in her life (she had started preschool at that time), or when she was stressed as she was adjusting to her new school routine. But it passed.

Just don't make her feel self-conscious or embarrassed. They will get back on their feet so to speak. No worries.

Perhaps there is something your girl is going through, a change or stress in her life? Talk with her... see how she is feeling. Kids love when we "listen" to them. Or, talk to your Pediatrician to rule out other things. Good luck,

The pull-ups might cause her to regress since it's harder for her to feel when she's wet and since there's no mess, she doesn't see the consequences of an accident. My daugther has accidents too. We implemented a few techniques. First, we tried to minimize the mess by outfitting her bedding with waterproof matress covers or if she would be napping somewhere else, we'd put several towels under her. If we were somewhere where an accident would be really difficult (on a plane), we'd put the pull-up OUTSIDE her panties so she'll feel uncomfortable if she goes. Second, we would try to motivate her with rewards and celebrations if she would be dry after napping, being out or whatever the event between potty breaks. She hasn't had an accident in a while. Hope my response gives you some ideas.
