Waterproof bed pads.
I got mine from Amazon.
I prefer the "quilted" types, it absorbs better and is fabric, not plastic.
Just put it DIRECTLY under the child, not under the sheets.

Use a mattress cover. On top of that cut the edge off the waterproof crib protector ( the part that usually curves around the edge of the mattress to hold it in place)and place it in the area where the child sleeps. ( starting just under where the pillow will go and down from there). I've never needed more than that and usually only need to remove the sheet and the top pad when accidents occurred.

Put a waterproof pad, or even Chux pad between the sheet and mattress pad.

waterproof mattress pads. Buy more than one, though, because if one is wet and you change the bed, you'll need another one. I always keep a mattress pad on my kids' beds and I think I have one on ours too in case we spill something or just generally to protect the mattress (maybe mine isn't waterproof though).

If there are a lot of night time accidents, I would put on the fitted waterproof pad and then, on top of that, a waterproof not fitted sheet (I used to buy some Carters ones like that... I saved some of them in case my kids ever have stomach viruses and put them all over the floor when they are sick!) That way, you can just whip off the top layer and not have to remake the bed.

One other thing, it may take a while to potty train at night... your child might be ready to train during the day, but it can take much longer until they are ready at night...

waterproof mattress cover is definitely the way to go. It goes over the entire mattress just like a sheet. Pads are great, but if your little one moves around at all they will more than likely not be on the pad the entire night. You can get waterproof mattress covers pretty much anywhere sheets are sold. I know for sure that Target has them.

As a side note to all your great answers, if you already have potty stains in your mattress, the Rug Doctor upholstery attachment, with their pet urine/stain remover works wonders on mattresses. Removes the stain and smell beautifully.

We got a pad from a medical supply store (designed for adult incontinence), works great but as others mentioned it can slip around. Hard to remember to check it all the time that it's in the right place.

There are plastic mattress covers that will protect the mattress from wetness as well as preserve the mattress from dust. If the cover is too noisy you can cover it with a mattress pad.

I use (disposable) wee wee pads (found in the incontinence or pet aisle) for my potty trained daughter. She has an accident about once a week and I put a pad on the mattress/sheet/pad/sheet so I can just rip off the wet layer in the middle of the night and she can go back to bed.

Good luck.

Hi K. - waterproof mattress pads. You can find fitted ones at Wal-mart. Be sure to buy the kind that has a fabric pad over the plastic otherwise your little one will be uncomfortable.

I dont recommend the kind that are just flat and lay on top of the mattress. I found those kind tended to move and bunch up under the sheets.

Also, if you kids like to jump on the bed check the condition of the plastic layer. They can rip especially after multiple washings.

Buy a fitted waterproof mattress pad. I have them on both my kids' beds. The mattresses have never gotten wet from any accidents.

Mattress pads are your friend!!

I layer the bed sheets which makes it easier to change out when "accidents" happen.

Sheet, mattress pad, sheet, mattress pad, sheet...

Accident on the top part, rip that layer off with the pad...and VOILA, instant made bed.

I know they have them up to a twin bed...and the toddler bed ones are easy to find at any Baby's R Us.

I have a waterproof/allergen proof pad on the mattress itself. Then I put on the fitted sheet and then I found a pad in the One Step Ahead catalog that is about 3 feet wide and wraps under the mattress to stay in place. You can get it in a twin or full size. This goes on top of the fiited sheet and the child lays on it. It is soft, not crunchy, and easily removable to be washed if there is an accident without stripping the whole bed. I wish I had two, so you might want to consider it. My boy is 7 and still has accidents.

Mor Furniture has the best waterproof mattress pads, I don't think anything could leak through them. They are better than any of the waterproof pads I have purchased elsewhere. Kind of expensive, but worth it.

My daughter wears a pull-up, because I stopped the diapers and she was having accident's at night, so we decided to put her in a pull-up to save the new matterss. I found a water proof mattress cover (bed, bath and beyound) that zips up so there is no leaking and over that I put a mattress cover, so double coverage! They also sell sheets of waterproof material that you can put were ever you need to protect the mattress. I hope that this help's out your question! Take Care!
