How Do I Hide All These Cords?!

Hi Mamas!! I need your help!! I have cords that run to my laptop, TV, airconditioner, ect. My problem is this- my 7 month old ALWAYS wants to play with them and put them in his mouth and such. So, how do I hide them so he can't get to them?? I don't have a desk for my laptop so it's just on the coffee table, and the cords run down around a psudo wall behind the chair, and those are the ones he seems to get to the most. I need some help!

Also, my back yard, which is where we park our cars, is full of thorns. All of those thorns always get tracked into the house, reguardless of how cautious we are. So, how can I minimize that without having to vaccum every time someone comes in the door? My son is just starting to crawl, so I want to figure all of this out before he really gets the hang of it and it all over the place.

What can I do next?

I work on a laptop as well, but I'm all over the place with it -- never just in one spot. My son wanted to play/put in his mouth the cords too. Unfortunately cords are endless nuisances at my house -- not just in one spot. For me, I just gently, but firmly, removed the cord from his grasp, removed him from the spot and directed his attention elsewhere. Without a big reaction from me it stopped being an attention getter, and since I was always taking it away it was no longer fun. It takes a couple of weeks of really consistently doing it, but after that cords have not been a problem. If you just hide them, he will find them later. Good luck!

Hi B.,

For the cords, get a large pack of zip ties and bundle them up. If they aren't dangling he might not be so curious about them and won't get tangled in them as he's exploring.

As for the thorns, make a house rule that shoes come off at the door. Everyone, no matter what takes their shoes off at the door. This will reduce the dirt along with the thorns from coming into the house.

Kind Regards,
TRUDI

Go to Leaps and Bounds on the internet or Babies R Us they have all sorts of gadgets for cords, power cords or power strips. As far as the thorns, have you thought about getting them out of your back yard, digging them up so you don't have to worry about them? Not to mention your son but it could ruin your vacuum.
